The question about the medicine. The answer is 60 but my sister and I say 90. Say you take a pill at 1, 1:30, and 2 (it said every half hour). Logically, each one would last half an hour, which is when you would take the next one. That would be 90 minutes. To last 60 total, each one would have to last twenty minutes each but you would still take them every half hour and they would last 80 total minutes (60 plus the two ten waits between pills after they wear off).


Of course, both of us could be reading way too much into this.

Docter gives you pills, you take the first pill as soon as you get it.

Minutes lasted for 1 pill = 0
+30 min for pill #2 = 30
+30 min for pill#3 = 60 min

The explanation consist of "Start with the 1st pill, 30 minutes later take the 2nd, then 30 minutes for the 3rd," which doesn't explain anything. The first pill has to last for some period of time, unless you start counting from the second pill. Or the first pill is a sugar pill, which would then make since because they don't do anything.
