The question about the medicine. The answer is 60 but my sister and I say 90. Say you take a pill at 1, 1:30, and 2 (it said every half hour). Logically, each one would last half an hour, which is when you would take the next one. That would be 90 minutes. To last 60 total, each one would have to last twenty minutes each but you would still take them every half hour and they would last 80 total minutes (60 plus the two ten waits between pills after they wear off).

Of course, both of us could be reading way too much into this.

:tard Look dummy, the question means how long until you run out of pills, not how long the effect of the medicine lasts. Jeez. :D

No, the question states "How many minutes would the pills last?" It doesn't say anything about how long if would take you to take all the pills. It's an invalid question. Not only is the question poorly written but two of the four answers can be thrown out, increasing the chances that you can guess right.

I knew Test and Measurements would come in handy some day.

it means how long they would physically in your pill bottle, not in your system.

It asked how long they last. That can be a lot of different interpretations. I still think it's an invalid question.

NO IT CAN'T! Reread the question. The only valid interpretation that can be made is the one I previously stated. At what point in the question does it say "the pills effects last 30 min" The question NEVER states anything about the amount of time advil does its wonders. They could only last 2 min, then 2+2+2 = 6. The only way you can interpret the question is the way they force you into. Perhaps you should have paid more attention in "test measurements" that you refered to.

I've reread the question many times and it still asks how many minutes they last. It never asked how long they last in a pill bottle, your body, or the vacuum of space, all of which are valid interpretations of the question. It's ambiguous and therefore invalid. You're, right, I really should pay more attention in Test and Measurements. Then I could have gotten a 135/130 rather than a 133/130 on my test construction project (where a question like this would have been laughed at because of the number of rules it broke).

Of course, you must be correct since aced a test in a class that teaches you how to make a test. So what rules did it break? Or is that the test question you missed that deprived you of a perfect 135/130 (extra credit too?).

It wasn't a test. We had to construct our own unit, which consist of a detailed outline, unit objectives, schedule of what we'll teach, why are we teaching, test blueprint (where the points were taken off because one objective was ranked wrong), sample test question (fill-in-the-blank, true/false, multiple choice, matching, interpretive, and essay questions), and the test we would give if we were actually teaching the unit. There was some extra credit for turning it in early.

It breaks several rules. First, it never states what it wants you to consider in how long it last. You think it mean in your possession, I think it means physically in you. Both are valid because it doesn't actually say. Then, two of the answers are not valid because you can automatically throw two out (the first two, I can't pull up the page to see what they actually are). This increasing the chance of getting it right by guessing, which means you don't actually need to know anything about the question to have a 50-50 chance of getting it right. It causes grade inflation. Any other questions?

Because it doesn't explicitly tell you what the answer should be does not make it an invalid test question. According to your logic you could not throw any answers out, because you are trying to answer a question that they give no information to try and answer, thus you are merely guessing.

It is necessary to derive what they are looking for by using the information provided. Since no timeframe was given for how long the pills would last in your system (which is what you think they are asking you) you can not interpret the question that way. The only way you can interpret the question with the information provided is the way that I and everyone else who answered the question correctly did.

The purpose of all the questions is to trick people into getting the wrong answers, which you did on only one question. Just admit it and be happy with your 10/11, it's a good score.
