Go the party sites themselves:

The Democratic Party

Republican • National • Committee

Green Party of the United States | Homepage

Libertarian Party | Smaller Government | Lower Taxes | More Freedom

Constitution Party National Political Headquarters

Go to wikipedia for a good overview for each party.

I've decided that when the truly ignorant (and you two know who I'm talking about....they are numerous and legendary) post the tripe that they believe based upon false premises, liberal talking points and just stupidity I will not sit back anymore and allow the ignorance to reign supreme.
I will call them on it and ask, politely at first, to justify their assertions. To date, and I've been doing this for several weeks, have failed...I repeat failed to post anything that remotely justifies their original stupid post. Most attempt to divert the subject.

BTW, you two can kiss my ass.

If you want a down to Earth, populace opinion, PM me. Don't want the squawkers in the background interfering with the flow of accurate info. :)

I think the hardest part is zeroing in on the non-partisan info available, if there is any. :)

If I were to generalize I'd say Republican party is more introverted, believes in self, work hard to get ahead, small government, don't take my tax dollars, don't interfere in my private life or my business, intolerant of opposing views as in let me be critical of your religious/moral standards. The Republican party was hijacked about the time Reagan showed up. Traditional Republican values such as fiscal responsibility were thrown to the wind. Their adoption of "religious" standards and courting religious fundamentalists was used by many unscrupulous people to take advantage of the situation. Lots of crooks and scandals since.

Any paper you write should go back and look at the history of the two parties for historical perspective. Check out this Republican Party wiki link and this Theodore Roosevelt Wiki link. He was a Republican who took on the anti-competitive trusts controlled by one of my favorite terms, the Robber Barons. :)

The Dems also believe in hard work to get ahead. The conservatives in this forum will laugh their asses off, but there are rich Democrats out there. However the party has it's roots in the people, are more extroverted, believing in community, social responsibility, looking out for the little guy. Wants everyone to have the good life, if that is possible. But they proved in the 60's you can't throw money at poverty and fix it and they are more supportive of social programs, in many cases going overboard in programs.

There definitely needs to be a balance between self and community. In the last 16 years the Republican Party has veered hard right.

Another interesting contrast between the two parties has been their views on environmentalism and business.

If you don't know, in the hard core (as in not all, but prevalent) Republican view, anything that hurts profits is bad, very bad. So concepts like global warming that might hurt profits are to be rejected off hand. They don't want to even think about it. Same thing with employee wages and benefits, those greedy employees who want to steal all of their hard earned profits. And of course, the insane government who wants to steal their money for those ridiculous wastefull non-effective social programs. Might as well throw the money down the shitter as give it to the government. But when it comes to security and war, LETS GO FOR IT, money is no object, deficit spending out the wazoo, no problemo dude! :)

I'm not saying all Republicans think like this, but it is an attitude you'll find in the not so dark recesses of the Republican party.

I'll let Mulder and Stauss fill you in on the Dems dirt however I will say the Dems seem to be more open minded regarding environmental issues. Are they right or wrong, are they foolish? Some will say yes. :D
