Sorry Acc, but there are glaring differences as well as similarities. You seem to be choosing to ignore the obvious differences that I clearly pointed out.

I can live with federal programs that help the toiling masses, but I cannot abide by programs that further enrich the oligarchy at the expense of the masses.
Of the two categories, which do the items in the OP fit? How are Obama & the Washington dems hurting the oligarchy & helping the masses? Not attempts; that's just lip service and they can say anything. Look at what's actually getting the President's signature.

I must have missed that. No argument there. I'm still an advocate for the working class regardless. Fuck the oligarchy. They don't need taxpayer help. I'm for the working, middle and small business class. The right fucks them and advocates unapologetically in the interests of the oligarchy. I'm for dismantling any program that benefits the oligarchy.
I'm of the opinion that we have to first dismantle the oligarchy before we can decide how to proceed. Any further gov't growth without that will only grow the oligarchy. Any help to the masses would be coincidental and designed to distract the protestors ... crumbs from the table.

Yes, let's get real. You're arguing degrees by parroting talking points. Should I respond by parroting the other talking points that the taxes were lowered across the board, so that you can respond that the bulk of the benefit went to the rich? It's a distraction from the bigger problem.
You agree in one breath that both sides have the same corporate owners, then in the next go right back into your partisan rut.

You've never answered my challenge that I've repeated several times: Name one major federal program started when one party was in power that was eliminated when the other party regained power.

Out in front is your tendency to lump the two parties together in the most general of terms. As I've said more times than I can remember, all choices are relative and a viable alternative needs to exist. Someone like Ron Paul running as a Republican, it's unlikely he'll get elected and if he was elected, he'd have to fight his own party. The bottom line is this country is never going to get anywhere good if our electorate keeps putting "anti-citizen" assholes in office.

So you are against the idea that Obama wants to shut down Commerce Dept? If not, what is your point? Isn't this the kind of thing you've always wanted to see happen at the Federal level?

I'm merely pointing out that your Hope & Change guy is a status quo puppet making politically convenient gestures but otherwise holding the helm in exactly the same direction as Jr Bush.

Ain't you Proud?

Killed Osama - Republican goal
Toppled Gaddafi (regime change) - Republican tactic
Prevented 2nd Great Depression - Political posturing common of both parties
Brought doughnuts - Junk food a la Republican in the face of Michelle's healthy eating campaign.

Barrack Bush

What on earth for?? He's a status quo puppet, just like Bush, Romney, & Gingrich. They're all bad for liberty, which used to be the highest American value.

Man I have to explain it to you? ;) You constantly gripe about a too big Federal government. Then you post a story about Obama wanting to get rid of Dept Commerce and instead of commending him, you...

You have a bad habit of taking politicians at their word and ignoring their behavior. The link in the OP goes nowhere now, so I had to google & found the same article from Reuters: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/13/us-usa-obama-reform-idUSTRE80C0SA20120113

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama will ask Congress on Friday for authority to close the Commerce Department and create a new export agency, an overhaul that could save $3 billion and help inoculate him against Republican election-year charges that he is a big-government liberal.
A cut of something like 0.08% of the 2010 budget. A purely political move to fool people who don't look past the headlines. And you can bet that the new federal dept will put far more power and control in the executive branch and more protection to Obama's corporate sponsors, just like the "Patriot" Act did for Bush, Inc.
