See this is the kind of shit that will pull me out of my 2 week break. I have been trying to figure out what it is about you AEF that makes you hate the military so much. Do you have fucked up eyesight? That ended your dreams of flying? Do you have messed up knees? Are you a fat ass who could never make it off of a fat boy program? Or are you one of those boot camp wash outs. Dude I love the fact that you have an opinion on these things. But why dont you show any type of support for the people who are out protecting you.
Um, I don't hate the military. I just think these people had legit reasons for leaving, and the military isn't for everyone.

Trust me, I'm in fit condition both physically and mentally, so no unhealthiness here. I can promise you that I could pass boot camp as well, its well within my parameters as an individual, I just think that I can do more good stateside. I'm no pacifist either.

Its apathy really. I just don't see why I should seemingly be forced to support people for their own decision to sign up to be sent around the world to enforce foreign policies I disagree with. I do support them in the sense that I hope they get home to their families as soon as possible. No one deserves to be in that shit hole of a region.

I think, you sign, you go. Anyone who thinks the millitary isn't about defending the country at all costs should be invsetigated for mental issues.

Here is how my father (decorated green beret, three tours in vietnam) said to me.

"I don't care if you like to believe it or not, you do not go into the millitary to get a cool suit and drink. When you walk into a recruiters office....You talk with te secretary behind the desk...The one that looks sweet and innocent.....She has been taught how to kill you."

My personal belief is that you signed, you have an obligation to do what's asked of you. There seems to be no caviat for "I don't like this...they shouted at me and it makes me want to poopey"

Awol is a crime...Yes?

Not if its illegal, or against national/international law. Soldiers can disobey unreasonable or illegal orders.

I don't think soldiers have an obligation to serve under leaders who commit illegal acts, like this whole war, for instance.
