thats crazy with that little driveshaft thingy for the s/c, looks like the install on it would be very easy for the whole setup though. how much are they wanting for a kit like that? do the import guys need to have an aftercooler?

Actually, Toyota has been racing for a long time. If Im not mistaken, Theyve been using their small c.i.d. v8 in thier baja trucks and I think even in NASTRUCK. So its really not a surprise to me that their thinking about running NASCAR. Plus, that means if they are going to run NASCAR, that they will have to mass produce a car to compete. I would kinda like to see that.

*edit* On another note, I wouldnt laugh too hard about the Camry. I bet the aerodynamics :rock Remember what happened when they discontinued the Tbird and started running the Taurus?? Lots of bitching b/c Ford was dominating with their new, more aerodynamic body at the time.

Well on another tidbit note for all you mustangers. Ever wonder how Ford engineered such a nice mill like the 2 and 4 valve overhead cam engines they stick in the mustangs? They purchased the engine plans from Toyota.
Not a bad decision actually.

Vortec centrifugals are more expensive than roots blowers. It depends on the kit and what psi it's for, but I believe it's anywhere from 3000-5000. Aftercoolers help tremendously, but you don't really need it.

I read it in an issue of Mustangs and fast fords. The article was about the windage tray for the 4.7 ltr and the writer talked about the engineering of the motor and all that stuff. I dont know where he got his info from but I believe it since it was published.

I never realized how large the 2V and the 4V motors were til I actually seen those things up close. The 4V looks like a damn big block.

Crazy thing is, the block is actually small in comparison to the old 5.0 or the Windsor. The size is all an illusion. The heads and intake are tall and wide, so it looks huge in the car. But take one out and strip it down to a short block and theres nothing there. :dunno

how about the fact that the other cars in NASCAR have 6s from the factory....AND FWD.

Besides it will take them YEARS to get into Cup. They will have to start in truck for a few years to develop their program.

BTW - 2000si, I liked the s/c setup on teh V-tech.

im curious whats the point of making a car look fast when its not.

That doesn't only happen with imports.

AND... not everyone wants a fast car, they just want a custom car and will spend money how they see fit. Granted a lot of guys that do that will rev and talk shit to anyone, but those guys are just morons.
