i see 3 things wrong witht that specific engine compartment and stuff:

>the engine is 4 cylinders...
>the exhaust manifold work is horrible... the exhaust has to take a total of about (rounded off number ) 270 degrees to exit the engine compartment... robs hp there... or something like that

I dont really see anything "wrong" with it. Everything you stated as "wrong" was all matter of opinion. 4 cylider isnt exactly my slice of pie, but thats because I prefer the easy way (V8). Id still drive it tho.

good point about the opinion thing... and that is true, it is my opinion...

but here is why:

>if you want more horsepower, the exhaust needs to be free of the previous exhaust...
>to design a better exhaust system, you need better room...
>putting the engine parallel to the front grill would not net the better room...
>so we point the belt-side of the engine forward...
>so that the exhaust only has to move 180 degrees instead of 270...
>if the engine is pointing to the front, then the blower would not need the "blower driveshaft" at all, it would be straight hooked to the belt..
>if the engine is facing foward, the transmission natively would be under the shifter, which would also decrease the amount of materials faulting under hard shifting...

Ok... stop with the stupid posts or I'm just going to start deleting them.

and I dunno how well you can count, but the exhaust points out, moves down then moves rearward.

two 90 degree turns = 180 degrees total turn.

Where's this 270 coming from?

It went from domestic idiocy to pure idiocy.

the blower depending on the model gave him a 50-70 wheel hp gain.
the engine is 4 cylinders, but the car weighs 600 lbs less than your covetted V8 engine equipped vehicle.
the exhaust manifold looks aftermarket, meaning it flows better and takes the same turns as the stock piece.

my covetted v8... thats not true, cuz i got the 4.6L... i want the 5.4L in my pony :D

Where's this 270 coming from?

exhaust comes out of engine: 0 degrees
exhaust turns down: 90 degrees
exhaust then turns toward the passenger side: 90 degrees
exhaust then turns toward the rear 90 degrees

grand total: 270

No that would be me trying to keep you guys from continually thread jacking peoples threads (missbehavin's for example) and sending them to jupiter. In this particular case, you could have tried to learn something about imports instead of openly insulting something I'm thoroughly excited about seeing.

Do I ever thread jack your posts about Mustang mods in here and talk about how the engine would be cheaper and more efficient to build if Ford made the Mustang FWD?

Yeah but as SI stated earlier, it is an aftermarket header designed to flow better that the stock piece so it cant be worse. And as far as the design of the car goes, m.p.g. pwnts u. :D So exactly how is having a car that is faster than the norm and still gets 20 m.p.g. in town "wrong"? If I had the choice and the funds, I would have one for daily use and drive the stang on weekends or special occasions.

P.S. My wife wants to have teh sexxors with me, so Im done arguing for now. :fu

what? where is it turning towards the passenger side? The SC IS BELT DRIVEN, NOT exhaust driven.

The header comes out of the exhaust ports, turns down then turns rearward and out the back.

180 degrees of turning. That's it. Nothing else.

I AM NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE SC... exhaust only... so look under your car and show me a picture with 4 exhaust pipe flexjoints

It's either a 4-1 or 4-2-1 header, it goes straight into the flex pipe, through the cat and then out the muffler. The header has two bends on it. Other than that the exhaust has a straight through path through the rest of the exhaust.

OK. Can you buy me a roundtrip plane ticket from AEX to ATL?

Tried that once. 300 down the drain. the fucker never paid me back.

For real, How does having, or, in some cases, not having, a muffler affect the sound of a car? I never understood that.

Just think of a motorcycle. Most of the time the exhaust comes out of the exhaust port and through a pipe without a muffler on it. It's loud as hell. A muffler is chambered to help slow the exhaust, that will basically quiet it down. Those large tipped 'fart cannons' don't have anything inside the muffler itself besides a baffler, which can be put in and out to quiet the exhaust slightly. Putting a larger tipped muffler on the car without the guts will make it sound like a harley with straight through pipes.
