I haven't seen it and I haven't read the books. My brother went and saw it, though, and said it was "okay" but paled in comparison to Battle Royale.

i know they cant fit everything from the book into a movie, but it did seem all rushed, for it to be almost 3 hours long. the whole extra crap they threw in about the arena control room? i think that took away from the story. they should have left that out and put more time and attention to other details that they left out that play a part in the following books. and the extra parts with President Snow and Seneca werent needed either

It's all personal opinion I suppose, I really loved it anyway and thought they did a great job. I quite liked the extra time they spent on Seneca Crane
I suppose they did that to set up for the next film when Katniss does her performance for the game makers. I thought the Rue scenes were done very well too

I watched that actually before The Hunger Games film came out. The idea was very similar alright but I thought Battle Royale was crap, it was more like a comedy than a serious film I thought, I didn't really care if any of the characters died or not!

I'm going to see it tonight! It's buy one get one free night so I figure we can afford that :p

I'd normally wait and just download it/buy the DVD, but this is one of those films I'd really like to see on the big screen. Plus, it's been fucking ages since I went to the cinema!

same here. i hardly ever get to go. there are just some movies that need to be seen in theater. but my past 2 trips have really made me not want to go again. its people who think its OK to bring their kids to movies that arent kid movies. when i went and watched The Hunger Games. there were people who sat next to me who thought it was OK to bring their 1 and 2 yr olds! throughout the entire movie, they were yelling at the screen and making jibber jabber noise. lady in the row below us actually turned around at one point and told one mom to shut her kid up. the other mom had tried to put the 2 yr old in the seat next to me. i told her id rather not have to sit next to a toddler while watching a PG13 movie. EITHER FIND A BABYSITTER OR DONT GO AND WAIT TILL IT COMES OUT ON DVD!!

God, I will never be that person. I wouldn't even take a child that young to a kids movie, I hate being disturbed in the cinema myself so I'm hyper-sensitive to disturbing others.

Went and watched The Lorax. Kids movie, im fine with kids being in there. but a few seats down from me, was a woman with her 6month old. sure, a 6 month old cooing baby is cute, but NOT in a movie theater! and the whole time she was going "ssshhhhh" with the baby! again, find a babysitter or dont go at all!!

ETA: i had a friend defriend me on FB because i of that statement. but not before she told me "i took my baby to the movies with me and she was just fine" seriously, your precious snow pea is an annoyance to others and is NOT the center of everyones universe! its rude, disrespectful, and inconsiderate!

There was this awesome movie theater near my apartment in Philadelphia, that doesn't allow kids under 13, ever. They only showed independent films or older movies, but that was fine with me - $5 tickets too!

Okay, I had a good time :p the ending felt anti-climatic, that was my only gripe.

Spent the entire movie wanting to touch Seneca's awesome beard :ninja

Yeah, I've read the books so I knew it wasn't going to be a 'nicely tied up all the loose ends' ending, but it was more that....
the bit where Katniss and Peeta decide to take the poison berries instead of having to kill each other, maybe it was because I knew what was coming, but I didn't feel any tension at all. It didn't seem like they were trying very hard to make it look like they were actually going to eat them, even though they were meant to be convincing the whole world that they'd rather die than be apart.

Not sure I explained that very well but yeah :p

I haven't seen Hunger Games yet. But whenever I read a book and then see the movie, the movie always seems shorter and with less depth. It's probably because a) it takes you longer to read the book than watch the movie and b) you get more detail with the book.

The movie is never going to be exactly like the book and I'm OK with that. After all, if they were exactly the same there would be no point seeing the movie. Plus, the director might have a different perspective than the author, and both of them pictured things differently than you did. So, it's never going to be perfect.

I disagree with this statement. If I really enjoy a book and they make a movie of it, I go see the movie because I want to see what I've read. I hate it when they change things. :ninja

I think they actually stayed very very true to the books in this case :) it was more the execution of some of the scenes that bothered me.

I do like it a lot when they make an effort to even get the clothes and hair 'right' on characters.

I saw it last week. I must say, it left me with a queasy feeling in my stomach. Don't get me wrong, the movie was great. It is action filled and has a very emotional/romantic side. The first part between the sisters brought tears to my eyes.. What I didn't like about the movie is the mindset behind it. How humans make other humans go through these "games" where they have to murder each other. I just find that repulsive.
