How do you give back?

-Volunteer at a Food Share for the needy
-Donate approx 10% of yearly income to a variety of charities that help those less fortunate
-Directly give money, service, or food to those in need
-Make dinner and deliver it to those recovering from surgical procedures or those that are too sick to cook
-Volunteer to help clean (housekeeping) non-profit charitable organizations or people that are too sick to clean their homes properly
-Donate electronics, clothes, furniture, toys, etc. to homeless shelters, women's shelters, big brother/big sister, or directly to those in need
-Choose a family in need and provide Christmas presents and dinner for their family at Christmas
-Make Christmas stockings and fill them with toys for needy children

Giving makes people feel so good inside. I would do more but with my school schedule right now I just can't. Once school is over things will pick up though and my oldest will be getting involved in the homeless shelter as well.

I read stories to children cancer patients every week at a local hospital's oncology unit.

I also send a non-court mandated, monthly stipend to the mother of a 2-year old little girl I accidentally killed in a rain-soaked, 'no-fault' intersection collision 17 years ago. it was a no fault, it was a no fault, it was a no fault, it was a no fault, it was a no fault, it was a no fault, it was a no fault, (when's that going to stick?) She didn't even sue for wrongful death (said it would be like a match on a fire) because she knew it about killed me anyways. :smiley24:

But it wasn't my fault...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Just wondering. What do you do to give back to your community? Or the world??

snip:

Sometimes I feel like I want to do more...but I don't really have many ideas.

Get yourself some heavy duty bags and pick up recyclable items along the freeways and recycle the stuff. Dang, I wish they'd bring back the chain gangs to do this along Chicago's many inroads.

Sounds like you are forgiven - don't carry that guilt.

I love the 'reading the books' to the oncology children's ward. That is a great idea. Doesn't even cost money - just time and love. :clap

I help people a lot..

I was in Melbourne and this girl looked down on her luck and was asking a man if she could have 40c and he said no, so I got out my purse and gave it to her..
I can't really do anything big so I do little things that will put a smile on someone elses face..

Honestly though, I think it's time that my Mum and I got some help from society, it's our turn to be helped..
