Disagreeing with homosexuality is akin to disagreeing with someone with blond hair

You weren't even in the thread until now so no one was assuming you were doing anything. I don't know you at all, and didn't even judge that you do have an issue with gay people until this last post where you threw yourself in.

ffs... go back and check your facts.

The Doc is a homophobe, I will say I suspect that. The "older established term" too. Just how I see it.

Then you should go into that thread and take the issue up with him there. He hasn't posted in this thread.

There haven't even been many, I think most of us are talking about people we know, not necessarily members of the forum. Badboy was the only one who really said he disagreed with homosexuality outright, which I don't think anyone said was homophobia, just...assholic.

You aren't talking about people you know. You're talking about the entire fucking planet and you know it.

For those who disagree with homosexuality, whatever the fuck that means in reality...why do you disagree? I'd be interested to know, genuinely.

Why would you be so genuinely interested? So you could actually justify calling someone an asshole I assume.

So what dictionary are youusing? Because there is no standard.
Every dictionary has changed over the years with definitions changing and being updated. So what makes you think yours is correct?

There are many dictionaries that list the definition as outlined in the OP. Somewhere among all this nonsense I told Retro I would accept his definition based on a couple of things. I'll put the same challenge to you..... or in the alternative I suppose you or I could start an online dictionary and twist the words meaning to be a recipie for frying a chicken if we wanted to. I'm sure there's someone on this site that would believe it and try to cook up a batch.

Specifically regarding what? Spare me your attitude, it's the internet.

I did

You aren't talking about people you know. You're talking about the entire fucking planet and you know it.

The whole fucking planet doesn't take issue with gay people, so no.

Why would you be so genuinely interested? So you could actually justify calling someone an asshole I assume.

It would be interesting to understand what reasoning holds up an opinion like that.

Wow...this has turned into THE most boring argument EVER. LOL

For the record, I only remember using to term homophobe to tell Dana that the only people I've seen get as upset as he did about being called gay were homophobes. You can pull out 100 different books and get 100 different definitions of homophobia, so really it's a moot point.

It's all very well to say 'people are entitled to their opinions' which is true, but you have to consider the fact that people who have those strong opinions don't just sit and home and ponder how they feel.

Even those who don't actively go out and protest against things like gay marriage will have an effect - everyone gets a vote, and someone with a prejudice is hardly going to say 'well I disagree with this person's sexuality, but I'm not going to let that effect how I vote on matters pertaining to their lifestyle'.

Fine, let people have their opinions, but let's not ignore the fact that having that opinion can still affect others, whether they consciously mean it to or not.

I absolutely agree.

I'm actually glad you posted this because the other thread was closed and I wanted to add my 2 cents to it. It would have went something like this....

Ok folks the message I'm getting out of this thread is that it's not ok on this forum to call someone an...
- asshole
- motherfucker
- cunt
- prick
- cocksucker
- fuckhead
- bitch
- etc
..... but it's perfectly ok to call 'em a gay even when you know they are not. If that isn't some sort of fucked up logic nothing is.

Which would still be their own preference. People aren't allowed to disagree with something? Unreal.

How do you disagree with someone being blond? What does that even mean? You don't think he's blond. You think it's wrong to be blond. You're glad you're not blond.

Suggesting you are gay is not against the rules, Dana...hell, one could argue it's not even name-calling b/c I certainly don't take it as an insult to be called gay. Hell, you offended 90% of the women on this board w/ your bikini post...but it wasn't against the rules. And, for the record, you didn't report Wyndex's post (or whoever's it was). We are not going to bend rules to conform to what yall want them to be. It's either lax or not...not "lax until nothing is going to be done about something I don't like." And that goes for those of you who continue to report Dana's threads for being too plentiful, full of curse words, or whatever. It is not against the rules...please stop reporting it.
