So I'm sitting in my living room, wearing only a light dressing gown because it's crazy hot and lovely, and the windows are a bit ajar. I thought about opening them further this morning but decided not to, since it's already fairly decent in the house.
Thank fuck I didn't! A fucking BIRD just tried to force it's way through the gap!
I've heard about this screens thing, I've never seen it over here though. I mean, we have bugs but they're limited to moths and the odd adventurous spider, I don't think we get the same clouds of insects that you do over there :ninja
Though obviously, I need a screen to keep birds out.
Sounds like Vancouver. When I lived there we never had screens on the windows either. Come to think of it, Vancouver doesn't have insect hordes and certainly not mosquitoes. One thing I miss about that city. They do, however, have these things called fish flies. They look like gigantic mosquitoes and freak me out, even though they're perfectly harmless. :ninja
Yeuch! I don't think we get mosquitos. Or if we do, they're not very persistent :ninja
I'm going to start biking into work. Which is a bit scary, because I don't know the way by heart, but I figure I'll leave early tomorrow and wing it plus the sun is officially out now so maybe I'll get a tan.
Might just abandon purse for duffel bag tomorrow. Easier to work with on a bike, and I could probably get my camera in there as well, which is a huge plus. If it was in my purse then I'd be constantly worrying about it bumping the handlebars and knocking something important loose.
Cycled in to work today. Spent the whole morning before I left on a gentle panic simmer, looking for a map that took ages to find, remembering to make a sandwich, trying to work through the route in my head, googling it, realising google maps is no good for redways, deciding to just go for it....
Luckily once I got going, it all started to look familiar and I ended up getting to work 20 minutes early because I grossly overestimated how long it was going to take me. My legs were a bit knackered at first because it's been bloody ages since I last did anything more strenuous than walking, but it wasn't half as hard as I thought it would be. I'm looking forward to not having to rely on the buses in the morning, and it'll save me £40 a month on bus fares.
Yeah me too in all likelihood it's probably just that the pain he's in from the trigeminal neuralgia he's currently suffering from got too much, but I want to at least talk to my mum and have her say he's fine, just needs stronger painkillers.
Though I don't know what else they can give him, he's already on morphine.
Making a spaghetti bolognese from scratch bought some mushrooms and onions from the shop on the way home, now it's simmering on the stove. I think I've made enough for four people, which is great because then I can freeze half of it for another day.
Cycled to work again, quite enjoying it! Left 20 minutes later than yesterday and still got to work with ten minutes to spare, although there were a lot more kids around.
Looking forward to the end of the week - getting paid on Thursday, seeing my parents on Saturday, then going to Wales with my mum to see my sister on Monday to Wednesday. I can't wait! Taking my camera with me and hopefully going to get some nice beach pictures
