He had been on his way over to hash things out when he heard the frantic loud voice of her husband as he cried into the phone with 911.
Her husband was about to express his thanks for reviving his wife when he noticed something that made him stop and think.
"Wasn't this the man who tried to kill me?"
He thought back to an incident a couple weeks before.
He couldn't remember until now....The man was driving a....Red Car? No. Gray. Yes, it was a gray car.
It was a gray car that nearly ran him down; the driver of which appeared to be standing in front of him.
The driver's face gave an expression of vengence.
Though that same face was now stricken while looking down with extreme concern at his wife.
He wasn't sure what to think.
911 arrived, instantly shoving aside those considerations for another time.
Intent on saving a life the paramedics immediately began to render first aid so they they could load and roll.
He followed the ambulance in his car, with the child, thinking how good it was his wife was conscious, but now pondering, what had caused her to collapse so suddenly?
All thoughts of Ms. Taylor had vanished but now, with the prospect of his wife being in the hospital made his mind consider how he might want to spend some of the time while she was there.
He felt guilty as he calculated how long his wife might have to stay, but the allure of Ms. Taylor was overwhelming.
It was only an hour later when the doctor informed him that they needed to keep his wife about three days for followup tests and observation.
Trying hard to cover his pleasure at the news, he thanked the doctor and hurried off with his child, mind spinning at the infinite possibilities three days could potentially afford with Ms. Taylor.
Later in the evening he picked up the phone and dialed his secretaries home number, she was single, recently divorced and answered on the third ring.
The sound of his voice sent a surge of longing through her heart even though she knew he was taken and it was hopeless for her to be with him.
