Man! There was a huge line at the movie theatre tonight! I'm assuming it was all the people wanting to see Harry Potter, I was disappointed because they weren't dressed up like the movie characters or anything.

I saw Bruno instead, I wanted to watch something slightly less gay than Harry Potter. :p
:24::24::24:

My daughter got dressed up and went with friends last night.

I aint seen one and aint gonna :D

The fact JKRolling has input into the making of the film make them better than LOTR.
I thought the LOTR series was an epic fail on following the books.

I hear what you are saying, but as a story, on its own, it was a terrific series. I think it's a thankless job to translate any book to film. There is just no way to get everything in there.

I had not read the books in a decade or so. I may be fuzzy on specifics as to where the films failed.

Too many details left out throughout the series which contributed to the story. The ending was not like the book which disappointed me greatly.

Hmmm...I guess I'm really rusty on the details. I purposely stayed away from the books before I saw each movie so I wouldn't be disappointed. Now I'm wondering, what did I miss????

Part of what was left out.

In the book the two hobbits who spent time with the Ents drinking EntDraught had grown to almost human size. Sarumon and Wormtongue escaped the tower and with the Orcs enslaved The Shire. The Fellowship had to defeat Sarumon again. Gandalf exiled Sarumon to wander the earth. Sarumon was abusing Wormtogue as they were leaving the Shire. Wormtongue pulls out a knife & murders Sarumon.

Ah...I had forgotten those details. They are kind of significant. Thanks!

I have yet to read LOTR. Sad, I know.... I have them, but I wanted to see the films first to get some of the history in place in my head first. Lots of things to keep track of! Kinda like Dune... Easier reading after seeing the movie.

I too was disappointed w/The Sorcerers Stone. So much left out. But it would have had to have been a 3.5hr movie to get it all in.

I thought The HalfBloodPrince was pretty good. For being 2.5hrs, it went pretty quickly. Which is always nice. I teared at the end (naturally), but I am going to bawl like a baby in the next one when Hedwig dies....... I should probably wait til it comes out on dvd to keep my emotions in the privacy of my own home ;) I was so sad when she killed Hedwig off. My family, man..... ;)

Oh you saw it! Excellent! I thought it was good too. I won't survive the death of Hedwig on screen without some tears. It'll be too sad.:(

I read LOTR years and years ago so it wasn't so firmly in my mind when I saw the movies. You know, I never got through Dune, the movie or book. Something kept me from really enjoying it. Dunno?

It as good, but I brought three friends who don't know anything about Harry Potter so they kind of didn't get it.

And yeah I got there an hour early and I still had HORRIBLE seats - so get there early if you go some time soon.

Took my girl to see it tonight, Just got back, It wasnt bad, Better then the 5th, and Way better then the 3rd which was a complete dissapointment.

My daughter liked it, all though she mumbled and bitched through the whole movie about the missing parts from the book lol. but all in all it was not a bad showing, they did a pretty good job on it.

It was a well done movie and OK. But seemed like the movie for the most part focused exclusively on Dumbledore and Potter searching for gouge on Tom Riddle. In the book I seem to remember more school stuff going on and I could be mistaken but I thought at the end there was some fighting between school personnel and the bad guys, but I might just be confusing it with the last book.

I am not looking forward to having the last book split into 2 movies. That will SUCK. Where will they split it? :humm:

aw why? not enough action?

It seemed it was geared to the teenage hormone riddled stuff for one thing. A lot of it was not in line with the book. I just came away perplexed as to what I watched when trying to fit it in with the actual book.
