Been reading Krauthammers book "Things That Matter"

And one of his articles questions if gay marriage is going to be legal then what grounds are there to keep polygamy illegal.

I think he has a point. If we can't discriminate who you choose for a partner then how can we discriminate the number of partners?

Good point..sadly the gays can use the discrimination card though.
While gender is protected..sexual preference is not.....go figure.

He is one of the sharper minds out there today. It does come down to legislative action and overstepping judges. While both are considered immoral by many folks, one is a "protected" class. The country is being overrun with these types who whine the loudest.

I never said it was proposed legislation. Read the damn cave wall another time Neanderthal :D

Same old same old for me. How you been?

I never said it was proposed legislation.
I didn't either, but what reasons would legislators have to be such assholes other than politics? :D

How you been?
Pretty good, myself.
Just serviced my motorcycles and am ready for a long riding season.

No doubt we are protecting sexual preferance as far as gays..while sexual preferences are not constitutionally protected.
But yet even taking sex out of the equation..is marriage a right or privilege..its a privilege as certain requiements have to be met.

I want four wives...Perhaps I can become a Muslim and cry religious discrimination.
I am sure it has been tried...so we disregard religous protections but protect sexual preferences which are not protected.
This is what happens when we let liberals make decisions.

marriage is not a privilege. It is a right as long as you meet the requirements.
I think that makes it a priviledge .
If it was a right you wouldn't have to get a divorce before getting married again.
Then there are age restrictions....how long you have to wait...blood tests..cant be related to each other...unless you are from Arkansas.

using your logic then owning a handgun is a privilege. I would argue it is a right. But you have to qualify. You just don't want to consider marriage a right because that would mean gays could marry

Marriage is a right, anyone has the right to be married. Having a gun is just plain dangerous.

Owning firearms also comes with restrictions .
Although you have the right to bear arms it has been trampled upon with many restrictions and is now essentially a privledge.

using the constitution is silly

not every thing is in the constitution

stay on topic though

enough about gay marriage.

this about whether polygamy should then be legalized when the SC eventually determines that it is discriminatory to not allow for gay marriages.

The grounds that make polgamy illegal need to be used to prevent gay marriage.

.................................?

In Utah, the issue is freedom of religion and Utah's anti-polygamy laws have been declared unconstitutional.

So, you better get some religion, prick :D
