Football Transfer Thread

now that the big clubs need english players the tables are soon to be turned, for decades they've been ripping off the smaller clubs who are desperate for cash, paying less than the going value for a player, that could soon change.....they want someone they'll have to pay top dollar

Yeah I think he'll almost certainly take over at Villa, though him to Everton with Moyes moving to Villa has been mooted. But Villa is much more likely. Steve Mclaren's also talking to Nottingham Forest about taking over there after they sacked Billy Davies.

It seems what's happening with Phil Jones is that Blackburn's Indian owners thought they had a say in Jones' departure fee. Unfortunately for them, he has a 16.5m release clause, which means that he must be allowed to talk to other clubs when they table a bid for 16.5m, it is illegal for Blackburn to come back and ask for more, or invite another club like Liverpool to outbid the first bidder.

Yeah I believe it was their advisers who told them what a release clause means. The full transfer fee is 16.5m, with up to 3.5m additional if Jones reaches certain milestones as a Man Unitd player (300 appearences etc)

Also betting has been suspended on Charlie Adam joining Liverpool.
