The look on his face in the second one is priceless! "What the heck is she doing to me? Put me down this instant!" :24: He was such a good sport about the whole thing. A lot of foals would have freaked out and struggled but he was pretty cool about it. Probably thought the whole thing was beneath him. :24:

Im going to the races in Sydney next weekend.

I was looking at her career stats...what do "1st Up" and "2nd Up" mean?

First up...The first run a horse has in a new campaign or preparation.

so...I guess 2nd up is the 2nd run it has.


This horse has broken a lot of records. I watched it run on the weekend, and it just strolled past the posts by a mile,no whip, while all the other jockeys were whipping the crap out of theirs.

Barely worth betting on though...unless you have thousands to outlay...think she only paid like $1.10

I just read that they are trying to get her to Royal Ascot, but her trainer doesnt want to....yet.

She will more than likely go down as the greatest sprinter in History...Im guessing thats in the world and not just Oz

When I was working in Kentucky we had a few miniature horses that we foaled out in addition to the thoroughbred mares. I have a picture of me holding this tiny mini foal. It was SO adorable. I'll have to see if I can dig it up. I don't have it on my computer.

There was a farm here that was breeding miniature donkeys. It got foreclosed on and 50 miniature donkeys were at the pound....I was so tempted!

Our third mare just foaled. It's my night off. Three foals on the ground and I've missed all three.

I earned my pay last night. Holy cow! :willy_nilly: Our fourth and fifth foals were born. I missed the fourth one because she was born just before I got to work.

The fifth one was a doozy. The mare broke her water at 1:30am last night. By 2:00 I could tell she was having trouble so the vets were called. That poor, poor mare. I feel SO sorry for her. She's a smaller mare and her baby was massive! It got stuck twice and we finally got it out of her at 3:00am after a lot of pulling and a lot of lube. Everyone was wiped out and the mare was exhausted. She just lay there. We ran her some fluids intravenously and gave her a pain killer. She finally got up an hour after delivering. She is in pretty rough shape and the vet found a vaginal tear. Given the size of the foal and her difficulties with delivering she could be hemorraging more yet. If she is, it doesn't look good for her. The foal is fine, in spite of her difficult beginnings. It's a big, bouncy filly.

I am wiped out. Trying to pull a foal out that is hung up in the mare's pelvis is NOT easy work. I rewarded myself with breakfast at Timmies. I will sleep well today. I hope the mare is OK.
