Had the flu shot this afternoon. My arm feels like someone slugged me hard.

Are you going to get the flu shot too? If not, why not? If so, why?

Poll will be coming soon.......

I'm scheduled to get mine on the 27th, that's if I'm not sick anymore, of course.
My boys got theirs last week. :)

No. No flu shots here. I've never had a flu shot and (kwx3) I've never had the flu.

My sister gets a flu shot every year and every year she gets the flu. But it's a 'milder flu' she says..... Well, ok then....

The flu and influenza are different. The flu shot doesn't stop people from getting the stomach flu. I've noticed this is something a lot of people don't understand.
I've had influenza about every two years before I started getting the shot and haven't got it since. :)

Got mine this week cuz I don't want to get the flu when it comes around. I just hope they selected the right strains is all I gotta say.

Not I. Our agency offered it for free a month or so ago and then again earlier this month for $10. I haven't had the flu since 1993 and I know that my mom has always gotten sick anytime she's gotten the flu shot, so I don't see a reason to chance it.

Psstttttttttttttttt....................

Fairly reputable link ;) ................ http://www.lungusa.org/lung-disease/influenza/in-depth-resources/debunking-the-myths.html

" MYTH: You can get the flu from the injected vaccine.

The injected shot is composed of an inactivated or killed virus that cannot cause disease. You cannot get the flu by receiving a flu shot.6 "

This one from the same link is for Anita

MYTH:
Stomach flu is a certain type of flu

People often use the term "stomach flu" to describe illnesses with nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Many different viruses, bacteria, or even parasites can cause these symptoms. While vomiting, diarrhea, and being nauseous or "sick to your stomach" can sometimes be related to the flu — particularly in children — these problems are rarely the main symptoms of influenza. The flu is a respiratory infection with symptoms that can affect the entire body and not a stomach or intestinal illness.13

Thanks for the info, but I never said my mom got the flu. She's highly sensitive to lots of meds and vaccines and I, unfortunately, am the same way.

I've been getting it for years due to the diabetes thing and the only ill effect I've ever noticed is some years I get the sore arm as mentioned by Fifi. I was spared this year. Mrs.Guyzerr get's the shot because she lives with me and I don't want here dragging it in the house if she can help it. She's never complained about anything as far as side effects.

imo the only ones that yip about getting sick are the ones that fear the shot due to all the rumors about it.

pssssssssssssssst # 2...............

" What are some of the possible side effects that people can expect after getting the flu shot?

At most, a person may have a sore arm for a couple of days. But that’s nothing compared to getting the full-blown flu. It’s really a small price for the return. "

I appreciate your insight, but seeing as you don't know my mother OR the severity of her allergies and sensitivities, I'll just assume that you are familiar that different people DO have different reactions to things. I don't need another link, though...I seriously doubt there's any relevance between them and the fact that my mother had a reaction that made her sick 2 years in a row almost 20 years ago.

My boyfriend had it because he's asthmatic. I haven't though. I don't get sick very often and I don't work come into contact with many at-risk people.

You really don't like being shown where you're wrong do you. The facts have been available for years yet people still insist on making false claims. It's no wonder people believe the crap they do.
