Toss your sheets and comforter in the dryer for a few minutes to heat them up. ;) And yes, toss the electric blanket. They are tremendous fire hazards when they start to short out like that. Biggest fire I ever dispatched was caused by an electric blanket (not to scare you or anything, LOL). Unplugged it should be fine since there's no power source to it.

Okay NODAK how does one wake up dead? :willy_nilly:

If HK ignores us, you can ask her tomorrow. :p

Now to be clear, you guys keep saying throw it out. If I unplug and disconnect it, is that okay? Does it actually need to leave the house?
No, you can use it as a blanket with no risks whatsoever as long as it stays unplugged.

Could wake up a zombie :tooth

I don't do that. I let my wife get up in her own good time. ;)

I'm not dead! :willy_nilly:

Just unplugged it and left it be, it snowed again last night which took the edge off the cold :) plus we've got about a million regular non-electric blankets that people keep giving us, so I slept under them :p

Get a thicker duvet, curtains, draft excluders, rugs etc. they're mild expenses that make a big difference to heating and electric bills.
