So I have yet to download a file sharing program on my new laptop but I'm planning on doing so soon. I personally prefer Limewire (or at least I used to...it may have changed since I last used it) but I've heard that it brings in a lot of malicious files and viruses (granted, I have virus protection, but still). So does anybody have a recommendation for a good file sharing program. Or does anybody wanna debunk the Limewire thing???

P.S. I tried Kazaa years ago and hated it. Not a big fan of Soulseek either.

No one uses p2p like limewire or Kazaa anymore..torrents is where it's at nowadays..Download a torrent tracker like Utorrent and then use a torrent site like Isohunt or Piratebay etc..

I agree, torrents are the way to go.
It's a good idea to read the comments and check the rating of the torrent before downloading.

Agreed with those who said it already. I'm a torrents fan.

I use Azureus...AKA Vuze. And I download from torrent-damage.

Check out utorrent, it's far more streamlined and I've noticed better speed off of it then Azureus. They don't bog it down with a bunch of bull that you don't really need.

no input other than to stay away from LimeWire! its bad with viruses and its illegal DLing! sure you're paying for it, but you're paying for the program, not the songs!

install iPod. you dont have to have an iPod to use it

You're confused

LimeWire is a free program. The files on their server however are crap. And its bundled with spyware. I think shes looking for a free program to download free files. You keep saying iPod but I think you mean iTunes, which you have to pay for downloads.

yeah i meant iTunes! :p its just $1 per DL though

nope not confused, DH DL'd that limewire crap on our computer and was paying a monthly fee. after the computer became infected, i was quick to uninstall the program and delete everything that he DL'd. i actually had to dump the entire laptop and bring it back to its brand new state like it is the day you buy it and reinstall everything. it was a PITA!

a whole album on itunes cost 10 dollars. but you get no album art and you dont technically own it.
you cant burn a CD to have a physical copy of it later.

new releases at best buy cost 10 dollars.

I'll keep supporting my artists the latter way

If were talking about pay download, I pay 15 bucks a month for a zune pass..Unlimited downloads as long as I pay the monthly fee, A cd will cost you 15 bucks so I think it's well worth it. They also give you 10 song credits a month, that allow you to keep 10 songs, I use them to download the most listened to songs.
