My wife gets on my account and plays Frontierville...I do not play it. But everytime I log in I'm inundated with notifications about Frontierville. It gets old. She has her own but using mine lets her send herself stuff I guess.

Did your wife open another FrontierVille frontier, or another FarmVille farm on your account?..
If she did open another frontier or farm in there... sadly you won't be able to block those spammy notifications because they are tied up with the game.. they are part of the quests, and if you block the app or the notifications, she won't be able to continue with her frontier on your account..

Although Facebook prohibits second accounts, many people do, and have a lot more than one.. ;)
I opened another account intending to use it only for FV and FrV, and keep my personal account clean of apps, but then things spilled out from one account to the other and it was impossible to stop the shit..
Zynga is the worst company to deal with, as far as spam is concerned.. that's how they make their money.. :mad

Take a look at this thread I made a few days ago.. I wrote about what I found out in there.. :

http://www.offtopicz.net/showthread.php?t=74066

I deleted and blocked both FrV and FV from my principal account, and will do the same on the other the next time I'm there..

That's exactly what my missus did! :24: Fortunately she's given it up now so I've blocked that shit. Now I just get fed up of having to keeping blocking apps. You block one and then people start playing another, there must be thousands of these things on there! :willy_nilly:

Peter, you can go into your account, and on the applications options, there is a button you can mark to "Block All Applications"..

Also, when you are on your feed, profile wall or notifications pages, you can click on the small "x" at the right of posts, and then click on block "- - - -"... it will ask you if you really want to do that.. confirm yes.. and that app will be blocked..
I do that every time I scroll down my feed..

... and yes!.. there are thousands of apps, and every day many more are created.. Most of those are bogus.. they are spam or carry virus.. :(

I don't want to block all apps though because I use about half a dozen of them. I do what you do though and just block them when they appear on my news feed.:thumbup

Does facebook deactivate the account if not used for some time?

That was their plan last year hence the emergence of email verifications. However, my old account from 2004 which I got locked out of. I still see it lurking around as a friend suggestion due to that mutual friend connection :p

Nah, my friends keep deactivating their profiles, because I was told by one that he was busy taking exams (he is studying to become a lawyer) so doesn't want to be disturbed by other people messaging him....so that maybe the reason why they keep coming and going...they just simply deactivate it for a while...personal reasons etc...

I have never actively used FaceBook apps, I can't stand them. All those games are just naggy and dodgy, spamming my friends and families walls and trying to access my personal information for some reason. I use FaceBook to talk to my best friend and overseas family, and that is pretty much it these days. I'm pretty ICT savy and I spend way too much time on the Internet, but FaceBook is just one of those things I've never been very attached to and I don't see why everyone else is so crazy about it. Social networking sites feel like they aren't even used for their purpose anymore...

See if there is an update, apps normally get updates on a regular basis (to my annoyance)
Yeah, there was an upgrade right after I started having problems and it HAS gotten better, but it's still happening occasionally. Also, on my regular computer I keep getting logged out and then I get a message about having clicked on a spammy link and asking me to post a security warning for my friends.

I had that sort of same encounter last month. Although i had an idea about it given I added that alert to inform me if someone logged on to my account from a different device. I received an email stating the IP address of the person logged on to my acct. So when i logged back on, i received that security warning.

I think you being logged off automatically is another security feature of FB. It's an added security too for everyone among your friends to know that your FB account had been hacked and they can take necessary actions if there's anything suspicious also going on their FB accounts.

I suggest that you make your password a lot stronger eh ;)

My password is 12 characters long already and includes a mixture of numbers, letters, and punctuation. LOL

I just had one, it was because there was a lack of 3G signal

I think I've just come across the saddest person on facebook! I just recieved this message from some stranger concerning the Mob Wars game which I play. :24::24::24:

Hello

You have just attacked me 14 times and punched me in quick succession and that many attacks is considered chaining. I am a group player and the Hogg Standard is NO MORE than 10 attacks per hour. In the group/family that I play mob wars with more than THREE attacks is considered chaining. I would like to know your reason for chaining me. Please reply in order to avoid problems in the future. Below is a copy/paste record of my mob wars news feed for proof.
