Obama now bowing to pressure from you guys.
Obama to Seek Freeze on Part of Budget

(WASHINGTON) — Facing voter anger over mounting budget deficits, President Barack Obama will ask Congress to freeze spending for some domestic programs for three years beginning in 2011, administration officials said Monday. Separately, Obama unveiled plans to help a middle class "under assault" pay its bills, save for retirement and care for kids and aging parents.

I thought the poll numbers only refers to his popularity. The double digit unemployment rate is shown in the graphics anyway. Slow economic recovery is obvious from the unemployment rate.
It's only "obvious" to people who think it's the government's responsibility to control the economy. The rest of us know that economy is slow in recovering and unemployment remains in the double-digits because of Obama & company's meddling outside their constitutional limits.

So what we're left with:

  • Some Americans are pissed because Obama's supposed to be the savior and the water's not wine yet.
  • Some Americans are pissed because gov't interference is injecting additional instability into the market, so the people who are able to create jobs and fix the economy are unwilling to invest.
In other words: Obama's numbers are down because he's not doing his fucking job! We just disagree on which job he's fucking up.

Okay, I think it will be a pile of bullshit lies, outright lies, half-thruths, and misdirections, dressed up with platitudes and divisive calls for class envy. He will blame our situation on anyone and everyone but himself, then claim the only way to remedy it is to do more of the same thing that got us in it. He will chastise the gov't for its irresponsible fiscal policy - which he will accept zero responsibility - and call for a spending freeze on all gov't spending ... all except for damn near everything. He likely say one positive thing about the country he's destroying, and will have a dizzying variety of ways to speak poorly of it. He will call us citizens stupid without using the word stupid, thinking we are too stupid to notice. He will then close with a rousing chorus of his #1 single, Keep Hope Audacious.

That's what I think about his State of the Union address later today.

Social forum activists denounce corporate greed
PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil – Leftists in Brazil for a week of protests against capitalism denounced corporate greed on the second day of the World Social Forum, saying Tuesday that big companies humbled by the global meltdown must be prevented from controlling natural resources and harming the environment.
"Capitalism's unsustainability has never been so obvious," said Brazilian philosopher and sociologist Candido Grzybowsky, one of the forum's leaders. "We need to create a system based on social and environmental justice."

This is a funny line:
"We have to decolonize our territory and declare it free of Coca-Cola and Monsanto," said Galeano, a leader of the Colombian chapter of the environmental group Friends of the Earth.

Sorry, what are we comparing capitalism to ?

IMO..
Capitalism will be around because it is fundamentally the base of Socialism and now even part of new World Communism.. Capitalism has been around since the day man bartered the first item.. Variances on it only makes the other forms of economic systems viable..

True Communism would have worked if man had not been greedy and lazy but we all know that is not possible..

But hey, that's just my opinion..

:24: So is your knack for prediction. Capitalism is alive and well even in your totalitarian society. In the most restrictive and oppressive periods of Soviet, Cuban, or North Viet Namese history, free market capitalism thrived. They called it "black market."

His staff must've done a study and found that the typical trailer-park resident responds to anything positively so long as it's framed as competition. It seemed like every sound byte in that recycled speech had some kind of competition spin tacked on the end.

Bottom line message from that speech: We ain't changing shit. We just need prettier packaging so the stupid constituent will buy it.

Hey, can I trust your checks, double checks and bigass checks? Looks like you are among the 17%.
Poll: 83% of Speech Watchers Approve of Obama's State of the Union Proposals
A large majority of Americans who watched President Obama's State of the Union Address generally approve of the proposals he outlined in his speech, according to a CBS News Poll conducted online by Knowledge Networks immediately after the President's address.

Of the randomly selected 522 speech viewers questioned by CBS, 83 percent said they approved of the proposals the President made. Just 17 percent disapproved — typical of the high support a president generally receives among those who choose to watch the State of the Union. In January 2002 — when George W. Bush gave the State of the Union Address a year into his presidency — 85% of speech watchers approved.

In cases such as this, content is far more important than delivery. Here's the full text of the speech.

I'm completely categorically and unreservedly uninterested in your opinion of the speech, not that you would have posted it anyway.

In the opening of the speech
Obama said:
It's because of this spirit -– this great decency and great strength -– that I have never been more hopeful about America's future than I am tonight. (Applause.) Despite our hardships, our union is strong.
But in just over an hour, we fell apart.
Obama said:
Let's seize this moment -- to start anew, to carry the dream forward, and to strengthen our union once more.
