Well if other people's opinions of your home's "competitiveness" is all you've got, I guess it'll have to do. I was kinda hoping to get a more personal view. What's your opinion, Kelvin? You said "we have much more"
My personal opinion will be too biased. Let other independent organizations like WEF judge us.

China On Path To Become Second-Largest Economy
BEIJING — China declared it is over the global crisis and signaled a shift in focus to controlling inflation, sparking concern it could hamper growth and the country's contribution to a worldwide rebound.
Economic growth accelerated to 10.7 percent in the final quarter of 2009, the government said Thursday, beating most forecasts and driving the full-year expansion to 8.7 percent. But inflation also picked up, driven by a jump in food costs amid a torrent of stimulus spending and bank lending.
The strong numbers keep China on a course to replace Japan sometime later this year as the world's second-largest economy after the U.S.[/QUOTE]

Economic freedom is a combination of the ability to chase your dreams and create a powerful company, but it is also the ability of citizens to find meaningful sustainable employment and have their physiological and psychological needs met- in other words be able to live happy lives. Now the definitions of these things are left up to the individual interpretations, but bottom line, the majority of society must feel the system is equitable to their needs.

Talking abt sustainable employment - when people can't satisfy their basic needs for survival then its much worse than human rights violations. People are questioning human rights violations in other countries when the unemployment rates in their countries are double digit rates. To deprive people of their basic needs is itself a human rights violation. So don't put the cart before the horse. Satisfy the survival needs of your citizens first before you question the human rights of other countries.

Yup, that Obama recovery plan is working exactly as planned, if not as announced. Don't worry about construction & manufacturing, you can always get a job in the gov't.

Obama to Announce Aid for Middle Class
The working class is settled?

(WASHINGTON) — President Barack Obama is set to announce a series of economic initiatives Monday aimed at helping struggling middle class families.
The proposals include a doubling of the child care tax credit, caps on student loan payments, and aid for families taking care of elderly relatives. The plan would also offer retirement savings options for workers who don't get an employer-based plan.

Democrats are trying to regroup to head off more populist anger and stem more losses of congressional seats in the 2010 midterm election. President Barack Obama's poll numbers are also off — primarily because of the slow economic recovery and double-digit unemployment. A majority of Americans also have turned against health care reform, the president's signature legislative effort now in jeopardy.

Oh my God! We're losing popularity. Quick! Throw some money at them!!

I checked the link. They didn't back this up in any way at all. Who says his numbers are off -- meaning DOWN -- because of that rather than the fact that big gov't is fucking us over and robbing us blind?

This is the backup:
Overall, Obama averaged 57% job approval among all Americans from his inauguration to the end of his first full year on Jan. 19. He came into office seeking to unite the country, and his initial approval ratings ranked among the best for post-World War II presidents, including an average of 41% approval from Republicans in his first week in office. But he quickly lost most of his Republican support, with his approval rating among Republicans dropping below 30% in mid-February and below 20% in August. Throughout the year, his approval rating among Democrats exceeded 80%, and it showed little decline even as his overall approval rating fell from the mid-60s to roughly 50%.

That doesn't say anything about the slow economic recovery or double-digit unemployment.

I thought the poll numbers only refers to his popularity. The double digit unemployment rate is shown in the graphics anyway. Slow economic recovery is obvious from the unemployment rate.

Freedom is not a barometer of success. While the US is still struggling with recession woes communist China is worried abt overheating the economy. By 2020 China will be the world's largest economy.
