I guess this is kinda gross...

My earrings have almost always bothered me. They have gold posts, and I have never had issues with gold, except my ears. I took them out about three weeks ago- my ear "holes" were a little red and warm, so I was letting them recover. They have felt fine for a couple weeks, so I decided to put them back in this morning. They started bothering me at dinner, so I took them out just a few minutes ago and they have already started getting pus-y. YUCK!

I have tried the whole neosporin on your ears and on the posts before putting them in and it doesn't help. Any other suggestions? I really miss wearing them!

If they are plated gold you may need to get them re-plated! I am allergic to fake silver and my fav pair are silver coated ones so i take them in every few months and get them redone!

Or you may need to get some of the earrings they have for hypersensitive ears. You could have a gold allergy. *shrugs*

My ears always go Yucko when I leave my earrings out for too long

Just bathe them in warm salty water, but leave your earrings in. Your ears are just getting used to having earrings again.

If they have never bothered you before, I would say that its just the lack of earrings, and the holes had closed up a little

Kim sometimes even gold earrings have nickel in them. I have been burned by this myself.

If I wear anything that isn't right my ears swell and hurt in an hour or two..

I discovered this same problem. My friend bought me white gold earrings for Mother's Day, and I took them out the other day when I was showering and noticed that the holes in my ears didn't look right. I'm going to have to look into this myself, as I have a metal allergy to nickel and unfortunately stainless steel.

I prescribe the following course for that fellow: "How not to ingratiate yourself with the ladies of OTZ 101".

Hope you get your ears/earrings sorted HTC.

Kim, try cleaning the earrings with rubbing alcohol and also rub the earring holes with rubbing alcohol (on a cotton ball) before putting them in your ears. This always seemed to help me.

I'll have to try that.

I put a different pair in last night (yeah, should've waited) and they have a silver post (color, not sure of what metal) and my ears are doing fine. I just need to figure out what they are made of...

I can't wear earrings anymore. I'd react to just about any metal. I built up scar tissue in one and now I can't get the post through. And I had finally found a pair with plastic post that weren't meant for a little girl.
