The thread about religious folks coming to the door got me to thinking about door to door salesmen.

Do you guys get regularly visited by door to door sales people? If so, what are they selling, and do you ever buy? or do you just ignore them like JW's and other door knocking bible thumpers? :D

I answer the door sometimes, and 9/10 I don't buy anything.

However, more often than not I answer the door, and the person on the other side says: "Is the man or woman of the house home?" and I say, "No, my Mom and Dad don't get home from work until later, and I'm not supposed to open the door for strangers."

More often than not, I get a "have a nice day, and they walk off...." sometimes though, they look at me really strange. :D

Is the man or woman of the house home? Lulz, this is MY house. :D

We get a lot of door to door sales.

People are usually trying to sell us to switch our provider for cable, security systems.. etc.. Also we have people trying to sell furnaces, air conditioners and things like that.

I have stopped answering the door unless I can see from the hall it's a delivery person.

I never buy from anyone except some of the neighborhood kids.

Ah yes. I am guilty of indulging in the neighbor kids chocolate and magazine sales. Haha. :D

I'll buy a few magazines to give a child a chance to win something fun, and to support their school. :D

They want us to switch cable or electricity providers. I'm fed up with them and will be calling the cops the next time someone knocks on my door. It's trespassing and they aren't allowed to canvass the neighborhood and after the guy had the nerve to put his foot in MY home and call ME a bitch, I have zero tolerance.

Although, I was very nice to the Mormon boys that came around. They were really nice first, though.

depends where you are living, when I was at my mothers I was always leery of people knocking on our door we didn't know (Jehovah's or kids selling candy for their boy scouts, brownies etc) now I am here with my wife my dogs give the person selling an earful before they even step in the door. I remember one time taking a job selling door to door selling knives, yeah that went over well. getting 15% of the total sale and no "hourly" rate, that dream quickly fizzled. (No, I did not have the knives on me while selling them I had a catalog to show perspective clients. Although the company (Vector marketing) did want us to buy the collection (it was $199) to show off the goods.) now every time I see an ad on Monster or a job networking site and it says "Attention recent grads, college students!!! and see Vector Marketing I want to laugh my a$$ off
