Re: Dodges Saw Thread

Ok, now I'm not hating on the SAW series, but it is not a scary movie. It's more of a gore film if anything. I mean the movies have their scary points but there are many more gory parts, than genuine scares.

I wouldn't call them gore films. They are more like psychological thrillers.

Agreed. It's amazing how many people get emotionally involved in these films, which is exactly how James and Leigh wanted it to be. The movies aren't made to be scary, or gore films. Watch the original SAW, and SAW II, compared to the last two. He's a great director, but I blame Darren.

I honestly don't feel like the last two films have become gore or horror films. I am still as emotionally invested in these movies as I was in the original.

I do agree the the last two films are still retaining that emotinal and psychological element, but at the same time, it seems like they're trying to up the gore level with each film. I've never really thought of the series as horror though.

Saw III was incredibly gory, and without necessity. However; I think Saw IV really toned it down.

Re: Dodges Saw Thread

Hopefully this level of gore won't increase again, and the storyline/emotional interest will remain the most important aspect of the films.

Re: Dodges Saw Thread

Some people get repulsed by the gore in the movies, however when I watched them I just found it amazing how realistic they make the gory parts look. The gore does not bother me since I'm more interested in how they did it.....or maybe because I'm messed up in the head...idk.

I'm kind of with you. Gore gets stale and good storylines, cinematographyy and acting wins everytime!

Definately.

So, great news for some people! SAW may be taking a year off.

SAW V and SAW VI Shooting Back-to-Back, Year Off?

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but there as been a rumor going around that next year, 2008, there will not be a SAW film.

Bloody-Disgusting learned of some really interesting information last night that was quasi-confirmed. We know for a fact that Lionsgate is now planning on shooting both SAW V and SAW VI back-to-back with David Hackl attached to direct (details here), but something we're awaiting confirmation on is whether or not Jigsaw is taking a year off to breathe. We were told that as of right now Lionsgate is planning on skipping October 2008 for the next Saw film, although that news is yet to be confirmed. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who wrote SAW IV, are developing the screenplays for both sequels. The fourth installment is in theaters now.

Re: Dodges Saw Thread

Let's keep it on topic guys :)

SAW IV was definately MUCH better the second time around. I wasn't as confused, and definately understood and caught a lot more new stuff this time around, and was able to just relax, sit back, and enjoy it. I suggest going and seeing it at least twice if you're going to understand and like the movie. Much better the second time around! :D

Re: Dodges Saw Thread

Great to know :D I caugh pretty much everything the first time around, but there were a few times this time that I was like, "Hey...I didn't notice that". Love the movie even more now!

SAW IV has made a worldwide total so far of $84,063,923 :D

Re: Dodges Saw Thread

SAW V set to begin filming after Christmas

Sources indicate that the fifth installment in the SAW franchise, SAW V, will be going into production just after Christmas. The newest director, David Hackl(Production desiger for SAW II-SAW IV, second unit director for SAW III and SAW IV), told MoviesOnline.com that Thomas Fenton, Patrick Melton, and Marcus Dunstan are currently working on the script and they will be going into production after Christmas. It seems like, contrary to popular rumors, SAW V is prepping for a 2008 release!
