It's not the PERSON you're respecting, it's their service. I think The Doc is one of the most egotistical, misogynistic, delusional people I've ever seen on this forum and I have no respect for him as a person...but I respect his service.

No need to apologize...people have different opinions. I'm just saying that you have every right as a person to walk past a group of Veterans while they're pledging allegiance to their flag, yelling "fuck the flag, fuck America"...but don't expect to not get your ass kicked for doing so. Just my 2 cents.

If she was at the cemetery for work then I could understand her losing her job if they have a policy against something like this, such as conducting themselves in a respectable manner while on the clock...or something like that. However, even though her work paid for the trip, she may not have been at the cemetery for something related to work and since she did nothing illegal I don't think she should lose her job. I do not know specifics as to if the cemetery trip was for work though so I can't really say for sure.

I don't agree with what she did, but she didn't break any laws so I don't see how firing is really the right thing to do.

Issuing a public apology on behalf of the company would be best in a situation like this...I'd think anyways.

She went to one of the most respected cemeteries in our nation.
What did she do.
She had a pic snapped of herself beside a sign that says 'silence and respect' with her mouth open as if shouting.
Funny in a way maybe.. she was joking.
She fucked up in that pic by flipping the bird.
You don't do that in a cemetery containing the remains of tens of thousands of veterans.
To be stupid enough to post it on her Facebook page was just plain idiotic.

I'm sure that none of the cemetery's residents complained.

Not wishing to be flippant about it, but the whole 'reverence towards dead servicemen' thing seem little more than a marketing exercise to me. If you can't die a hero, there seems to be little merit in dying for your country.

Basically what you have there is a field full of the remains of brave and hardened service people. People who not only would defend your right to speak freely and be who you are, but have defended your rights as an American to speak freely and be who you are. People who fought hard, partied hard, and probably 'flipped the bird' themselves on occasion.

I flip the bird at those who CHOOSE to harass this girl for not being empathetic enough to understand the wider context of the sign that she is mocking.I don't approve of her behaviour, but I don't believe you should witch hunt for lack of decorum......and I think it's crass that someone thought that such a sign was necessary in the first place.

Our servicemen put their lives on the line every day to ensure the freedom that we have. That freedom includes the freedom to make errors of judgement without being disproportionately punished If we're going to allow a bunch of bullies to harass anyone they dislike out of a job for reasons that have absolutely no bearing on their ability to complete that job, then those service men and women may well have died in vain.

Lack of respect for the military is just a hot button issue for me. Like, seriously, it pisses me off to no end.

Why? The military is simply a microcosim of society. If you had any idea of the frequency of low life shit military members do on a daily basis, you might change your opinion.

Again, not about the person. There are low-lifes in every profession. Doesn't mean I paint everyone w/ the same brush.

She made a mistake or poor decision.

I'm sure it isn't the first and won't be the last If my track record is the status quo.

She chose the wrong place to make her funny picture and PEOPLE really, Facebook is seen by Millions think before you post something. Do you think this generation has less common sense than those before? Or is that a separate poll? LOL

I'm sorry I still think people need to mind their own business. They didn't know this woman personally and were on a tirade to get her fired over something stupid.Further proof social media is taking over peoples lives way too much.

The thing is Dana, she made it our business when she posted it on Facebook. If she hadn't done that it would have been just a joke between her and her friend.

Who is "Our" exactly? It's none of my business and should be none of yours. I can say that she was probably dumb enough to make the photo public/and or not know her Facebook friends well enough to post such an act. It only concerns her and her employers.

John if she commits suicide because she lost her job, she had a pretty low self-esteem to start with. Again, if you don't want to lay yourself open for criticism don't POST STUPIDITY ON FACEBOOK. The good thing, people's memories are very short and something else will capture the headlines soon. It's not like the girl killed anyone or led anyone else to committ suicide. With time noone will remember this and she can go on with life, hopefully wiser.

John

I think there is a difference between someone who video's someone without them knowing it and then showing it to the world as compared to people who are so pissed off they go online to voice their opinion about the actions someone took that they find disrespectful.

Ultimately the people voicing their opinions and demanding that this woman is terminated are buttholes. Hopefully both the woman and her employeer realize this.
