"So this is how liberty dies...a thunderous applause." -Padme Amidala.

I'm boycotting because they're a bunch of fucking fascists who are going to make sure this nation doesn't survive another 30 years. Anyone in?
If not, can you post a bit of an update if you ever think of it - I still would like to know whats going on.

Thanks Mulder. It's great to know that I'm not alone. I'd rep you, but the damn "Spread the love" hippie-communist counter is blocking me.

There's no question they are a party of change and no question they will change America--from a free enterprise system to a communist welfare state. If you think that change will be good for America, vote Democrat.

I'm already laughing my ass off with some of the speeches given at the DNC so far. I sure hope the Republicans put on a good show too at there convention, otherwise I will be sorely disappointed in them.

These people really look like morons. Did you see the idiots when they were indicating how their state would vote. It was priceless. And the reps will be equally foolish looking

Are you saying they are nominating the joker?
yeah the joke will be on us if their empty suit gets elected.

The people of Pennsylvania can’t afford four more years of Bush-Cheney economics, and with John McCain, that’s exactly what we’d get. John McCain calls himself a maverick, but he votes with George Bush 90 percent of the time. That’s not a maverick. That’s a sidekick.

The Bush-McCain Republicans inherited the strongest economy in history and drove it into a ditch. They cut taxes on the wealthiest of us and passed on the pain to the least of us. They ran up the debt, gave huge subsidies to big oil companies, and now they’re asking for four more years.

How ‘bout four more months? We can’t afford four more years of deficit and debt, drift and desperation. Not four more years. Four more months. And we can’t afford another president who will veto children’s health insurance for 10 million children, or who will keep senior citizens from seeing the doctors they trust. Not four more years. Four more months.

Governor Casey used to say that the ultimate question for those in public office is this: what did you do when you had the power? Barack Obama and Joe Biden will use that power to help the folks on the shop floor of the Erie Bolt Company, the guys at Sharky’s, and the millions of Americans just like them, struggling but ready to fight back. We know they will because as Pennsylvanians know, Joe Biden is one of us. And Barack Obama is one of us too.

-Senator Robert Casey, Jr (Pa) DNC speaker 26 Aug 08.

If he actually reviewed Johns congressional record, he would see that he is by far the most liberal Republican in Senate, his last numbers over the last 5 years have been on the order of 50-62% on the side of Dems.

That should say a little about how much Senators pay attention in class.

That was my thought about Mac, was he was middle of the road leaning, which I think is a good thing considering the country isn't intelligent enough yet to pull together a strong third party, but in the end John will fold to partisan pressure, just like the rest of them.

That 90% seems to be coming up quite a bit. Maybe that claim is based on the big issues? I realize there are realities of getting elected as a Republican, but I have been very disappointed on the changes of position, McCain has adopted since deciding to run for President.

"So this is how liberty dies...a thunderous applause." -Padme Amidala.

When this line was used in Star Wars, it was the Republicans who framed it as a celluloid political attack on them so -10 for originality for being used here. ;)

Yeah, statistics are strange, sometimes they don't tell the "whole story"...I unno

I'm pretty let down straight across the board if you want me to be honest, I have really supported McCain since 2000, this time, he just did a complete 360.....Or maybe it's just that this time around he didn't take a stand until too late in the game, at least for me.

And I have never sided 100% with either party, McCain WAS, the best moderate candidate...But to get elected, you gotta sell out somehow:(

I've been watching CNN and what has annoyed me is that 90% of the air time is devoted to pundits analyzing and every so often they break to a speaker actually making a speech. The analysis is fine, but I'm tuning in to hear the speeches not Pat Buchanan give his dour outlook. ;)

There has been a large parade of speakers, granted I don't want to hear them all, but how about most of them, as that what conventions are all about. Link to DNC Speaking Schedule.

Darn, we watched Some Like It Hot and missed Bill. I'll have to look up his speech online.

People always seem to forget about 9/11 and the Dot Com burst when they make this statement which were the main reasons I think the US went into a recession. Also, historically, the government has almost always been in debt, and the government has always been in debt during war time if I remember right.

I take it all back. This is the most wonderful of times and we have the Republican Party to thank for it. Three cheers for 8 years of Bush, Cheney, Iraq, Haliburten, pushing for more tolerance, gutting the environment whenever possible, helping rich people get richer, unselfishly helping all of those poor third world countries get ahead sending them lots of jobs, and keeping the annoying little folk down! Hip hip hurrah!! :p

When I ran for governor of Montana, I had never before held elected office. I chose a Republican, John Bohlinger, to be my lieutenant governor, with the simple proposition that we could get more done working together than we could fighting. Because Montana really isn’t a red state or a blue state. As Senator Obama might put it, we’re a united state.

And so in three-and-a-half years, working together—Republicans and Democrats in Montana—we have cut more taxes for more Montanans than any time in history, increased energy production at the fastest rate in the history of Montana, invested more new money in education than ever before and we created the largest budget surplus in the history of Montana. That’s the kind of change we brought to Montana, and that’s the kind of change President Barack Obama is going to bring to America.

---break

In Montana, we’re investing in wind farms and we’re drilling in the Bakken formation, one of the most promising oil fields in America. We’re pursuing coal gasification with carbon sequestration and we’re promoting greater energy efficiency in homes and offices.

Even leaders in the oil industry know that Senator McCain has it wrong. We simply can’t drill our way to energy independence, even if you drilled in all of John McCain’s backyards, including the ones he can’t even remember.

That single-answer proposition is a dry well, and here’s why. America consumes 25 percent of the world’s oil, but has less than 3 percent of the reserves. You don’t need a $2 calculator to figure that one out. There just isn’t enough oil in America, on land or offshore, to meet America’s full energy needs.

Barack Obama understands the most important barrel of oil is the one you don’t use. Barack Obama’s energy strategy taps all sources and all possibilities. It will give you a tax credit if you buy a fuel-efficient car or truck, increase fuel-efficiency standards and put a million plug-in hybrids on the road.

Invest $150 billion over the next 10 years in clean, renewable energy technology. This will create up to 5 million new, green jobs and fuel long-term growth and prosperity. Senator Obama’s plan will also invest in a modern transmission grid to deliver this new, clean electricity from wind turbines and solar panels to homes, offices and the batteries in America’s new plug-in hybrid cars.
-Gov Brian Schewitz, Governor of Montana, DNC Speech 27Aug08.

Tax cuts are the last thing any Democrat wants.
