So I have started my diet! I need to lose some major poundage.

It seems like most everyone has been on a diet at least once in their life. What worked for you? Do you have any yummy healthy snack suggestions?

Unfortunately I didn't grow up eating vegetables and now I despise them...at least all the green ones anyway. I am having a hard time finding healthy foods that I do like.

I am tired of feeling chubby. :( Suggestions wanted/needed.

I started mine today as well!

I really can't tell you anymore than what I've already told you.

Fruit is an excellent snack, though. You need to eat your veggies, even if you only eat the few you like. Do you like carrots? Baby carrots are a good snack. I just had some.

Low fat triscuits that you keep plain and only eat one serving of can be a good snack.

I love Triscuits! I will need to get those next time I go to the grocery.

So far I have loaded up on whole wheat bread, sliced turkey, rice cakes, some sort of fibery cereal, skim milk, and apples.

Maybe I can try baby carrots. I am not a big fan of them, but hey, as long as they keep me from being hungry who cares. I heard sweet potatoes were good for you too. I need to look into that. I love sweet potatoes.

Thanks for all your help Iris! You're the best. :D

And i wouldn't take dieting advice from anyone on here... no offense.

Why not?

I mean, if something sounds fishy I will research it online. I figure it is best to learn from the experiences of others and I respect everyone on here.

Sounds good! Now, as for the turkey, is it prepackaged? That's typically bad.

Also, I don't know about you but I hate wheat bread. Toasting it helps make it tolerable, though. And I hear orowheat is a good brand that actually tastes good.

Also, a good way to stop being hungry is water. You need to drink LOTS of water. Every thing in our body depends on water and it is important to drink it. Just don't let water replace a meal. You need to eat three meals a day with a snack in between.

do you have a crock pot?

Eat less but regularly, more exercise.:thumbup

That is good as far as a long term plan goes. However we are having a weight loss competition at work/school. I mean, I still want to be healthy about it and everything, but I want to lose weight quickly. Therefore I am trying to drastically change my eating habits. Oh, and I am working on exercising much more frequently. The exercise part seems to be much easier than the eating part. I miss my soda's and junk food. :(

I heard prepackaged meat was bad so I got sliced meat from the deli.

That is exactly what I found out. I tried a sandwich the other day and literally would have preferred to have gone hungry than to eat it. Today I tried toasting the bread though and it was wonderful. I loved it. I don't know what brand I got. I need to start paying attention to that stuff.

Ah....water. That is the most difficult part of all of this. I hate water. I am already having my caffeine withdrawals. At this point I am only drinking water, I am just not drinking a lot of it. I am hoping I will enjoy it more as I drink more.

Yes I have a crock pot. I feel like a yummy recipe is coming my way...:D

Yeah, I used to have soda withdrawals but in the 9th grade i didn't drink soda for like.... eight months and now I can go along time without soda and it doesn't bother me.

Yes, a very yummy recipe!

Here is just a basic idea of it and later on if you think it sounds good I will give you a more detailed version.

Take a whole chicken and put it in there on low before work and leave it there. When you come home it should be ready. Shred the meat off of the bone and if you have a rice cooker you should get some brown rice and soy sauce (I think it's for every cup of rice, half a cup of sauce) make sure you have some tony's creole seasoning. or something like it. then cook a bag of mixed veggies that you like and eat it! Make sure your portions are even. You want to have the same amount of meat, veggies, and rice and you want to try and make sure you eat it all. It's yummy.

Also, do you have a grill? If you get some skinless, boneless chicken and cut it up, you can make shish kabobs (however you spell it) and add some veggies you like. I've been told to add onions and mushrooms, but I don't like them... lol so knowing me I would make plain chicken and have some baby carrots. I hate veggies.

I do like carrots, cucumbers, and lettuce. I think that's it.

Also! You can get lean ground beef and make hamburgers. Wheat buns and some lettuce, tomato and such. A friend of mine uses a little bit of this low fat bbq sauce in it as well.

Never ever ever skip breakfast! It really is the most important meal of the day, get your enrgy from the first hour and you will be less inclined to eat unhealthy foods later, eating breakfast helps aid fat lose this way.

Don't make the mistake of eating a high strachy carb breakfast though, while you need the carbs for energy you can very easily over do them and get fat, stick with something high in protein as proteins will make you feel fuller for longer. So avoid cereals, even if they say 'healthy' on the box or 1% fat, its all bullshit, itl be the carbs that make you fat in the end not the fats, plus the vitamin/mineral content is chemical based.

Typically you should eat little and often but always start the day with breakfast being your biggest, most nutricous and calorific meal of the day, and from there the meals should get smaller, eat less before bed time, and eat 90% whle foods most 90% of the time. White pasta, whote bread should both go, switch to wholemeal pasta and garnery bread, be careful with some brwon breads as they can be just as bad but also go easy on bread and pasta also white rice should go to wholegrain brown rice. too much will still make u fat though go careful.

Dont be scared to eat fats, they really arent as bad as the media portrays them! Heathly fats such as monounsaturates help aid fat loss. They also digest slowly and are cheap. Eat healthy fats with every meal and avoid artificial trans -fats.

And drink lots of water, avoid fruit juices as they are soo bad for you with 38g of sugar for every 8oz! if your not a fan of water then just squeeze in a few drops of lemon juice lime juice ornage juice from fresh fruit to give it some taste

Also have you heard of the cinnimon drink method?

This is just the very very tip of the iceberg to set u off, any more advice i will be more than willing to help :)
