Season 4 is amazing! :thumbup

Am shocked with the ending of this season though. Why did
Rita have to be killed when in the novel this show is based from, she isn't ??. It's disheartening :(

Having watched a few episodes of Season 5, is
Julia Stiles- 'Lumen' gonna be staying given she's in a relationship with Dexter now? Or is she gonna be killed too like Rita??

They felt they needed to end the season the way they did to push the show in a new direction I think. Believe me, I watched it when it happened, and I'm still mad about it. I kept hoping it wouldn't be real.

And as far as season 5, you'll just have to watch and see. :D

The writing in season 6 is a little lax imo...things work out just a little too perfectly and there are too many coincidences. Doesn't make it any less awesome though lol.

I'm thinking about that new direction- is it to build more anger/psychological, emotional splitting in Dexter ?? I think he deserves Rita, besides- she's such a sweet lady. It just makes me sad, she's gone :(

I see now what you mean re: Julia Stiles. Another disheartening moment for Dexter.

Really? I love it. It reminds me of the old Dexter.

I am starting Season 6 today....shall see, you guys make it interesting with these comments

Although, as what Anna said about the 'old Dexter', it reminds me of that scene in last episode of Season 5 when he saw his image in the cake knife during Harrison's bday. I like the new, more in-touch with reality and his own feelings type of Dexter over the old one ;)

I am not all that excited by this season. Perhaps Dexter has jumped the shark.

I don't know if they are using the same writers but there just is not much mystery and suspense like the earlier season.

I think they have either a new writer director or producer. I believe it's a new writer. I think the season is really good, but that could be due to how unsatisfying I found season 5. I like that they've given Dexter more facets to his personality. I find it easier and easier to like him. And really, the seasons always take a few weeks to get "suspenseful" anyway.

I think they have a new "something" as well lol. I like the story line with Masuka, piggish as it is, I want to punch Quinn as usual and Deb is back to her old sailor ways with that mouth :24: hopefully that isn't a spoiler.

This is what I was thinking of. Taken from Dexter's main Wikipedia page...

The main creative forces behind the series were executive producers Daniel Cerone, Clyde Phillips and Melissa Rosenberg; Cerone left the show after its second season. Coming off a record-setting Season 4 finale, executive producer and showrunner Clyde Phillips departed the series to spend more time with his family. 24 co-executive producer Chip Johannessen took over Phillips' post.[SUP][5][/SUP] Head writer Melissa Rosenberg left after Season 4 as well.
After the conclusion of Season 5, it was revealed that Chip Johannessen was departing the show after a single season[SUP][6][/SUP] and that Scott Buck would be taking over as showrunner from season 6.

if they got a writer from the later part of 24 then the show is doomed. 24 when downhill the last 3-4 seasons big time due to unimaginative writing.

I hope I am wrong.

I am surprised Carpenter (sister) has not made more of a splash and gotten movie offers. She is damn good and that mouth of hers is fucking hilarious. :D

She's super good at being hysterical in movies, that's for sure.
I couldn't really imagine this show going on for 10 years, but I really hope Michael C. Hall stays working, don't know what I'd do without a show featuring him!

 Yup, I got that from Dexter wikipedia too. I was posting from my phone and link came out a different format. I didn't mention producers on my post :p Most of the changes were co/executive producers, and show runners. Although losing the head writer M. Rosenburg also might have greatly affected the show of course.

I agree with you that it takes time for the story to build up and hit the momentum of suspense. Since lots of changes too came about with almost everyone's life: Dexter not having Rita and now Harrison is gonna be in pre- school, divorce of Maria and Batista, proposal of Quinn to Deb and Deb being a lieutenant etc: imo, all those needed to set in the story then am hoping it will pick up. Although personally, I am interested in the mystery behind that Doomsday killer. What's the message with their killings?

Fortunately the 24 writer is gone. He worked on crappy season 5.

I'm with Pan. Michael C. Hall needs to keep working. And I need to find somewhere to watch Six Feet Under since he was in that show IIRC.

I used to watch it when it was first on, but that feels like an eternity ago. I couldn't remember if he was specifically on it, and it's not on Netflix instant queue (because nothing good ever is...lol).

Perhaps I'll go looking for a torrent tonight.
