You've got management people. You've got employees represented by unions. Why would anyone automatically think that management are the good guys and will always do the right thing by their employees? You know that unions exist for one reason, greedy bastard owners who don't like sharing the wealth. However management would call employees greedy by actually wanting a fair shake. That is my opinion. This is not my view that unions never fuck up, they have big time. But bottom line, they are people looking out for their best interests just like management is looking out for theirs.

Want to get rid of unions? Be fair.

The unions are what cause the automakers to suffer...They were unreasonable..their decades of abuse caused massive expense in the way of pension.
How the the hell do you consider "greedy bastards" not sharing the wealth...when they were heavily in debt.
With your logic the employees should be sharing the debt as well

I answered this in another thread.

How is 70 bucks an hour in wages and compensation a fair shake for common factory labor...many skilled graduates would die for the wages.
How would you like to open a pizza parlor...have a union force its way in and start paying your employees 70 bucks an hour{wage and benefits}
Limit the job to a specific task ...receive pay during layoff the list goes on.
You will end up with more employees than you need to start with..so now your are paying 70 bucks to more people than you need..so lets just make it 100 bucks and hour...ya buddy lets share the wealth

The Black Limo out of Chicago came to our shop back in the late 60's acting like thugs thinking they would force us to go union and the rest of the industry would follow suit.

They got a quick lesson in business. Which is that it is really, really, really hard to force a family to unionize. :D

And they ended up leaving with their asses handed to them.

Friggin morons

How much should they get?

In an ideal system a full time job meeting specific standards should pay you enough to live a good life regardless if it is a cop, a teacher, or an autoworker. Now we can argue about that. :)

UAW members have never been paid $70 per hour (as far as what I've read) although their total compensation including benefits could have approached that at one time. Actual hourly wages run $14-19 per hour. The Heritage Foundation (conservative) likes to spout that the UAW makes almost triple what private sector workers make. Yeah, $5 per hour is reasonable... :smiley24:. I counter that the private sector needs to do a better job with compensation, but this is always effected by what kind of job is being talked about including the profit potential of the company in question.

And while the HF bemoans auto worker wages, have they ever bemoaned skyrocketing CEO and top management wage increases and stock awards? There is only so much money in the pot. As management increases compensation to management wages and owner profits to what I would describe as unreasonable levels, this directly comes out of the benefits offered to rank and file workers. What is equitable is determined in the eyes of the beholder. Maybe there are still business leaders with scruples, but in the current climate, with manufacturing jobs being sent to the lowest wage, least regulated country, big business seems to be ok with pollution and virtual slave labor in the name of maximized profits.

The two quotes are not related..
The UAW wages have already been confirmed via research.

The question I asked was in relation to your post of
Cops get paid too much too
I asked how much they should get as you have stated they make to much.

So I will repeat the question
How much should cops receive in wages....you must have some idea as you have stated they make to much now,so therefore you must have a figure in mind
