On those tiny little screens? :24:

they're great little gaming devices. More games for them than any other device I hear. Driving games are especially awesome with the motion controls etc.

Besides, the iPad screen is plenty big enough for most gaming needs.

obviously in a unit so small you'll never equal desktop graphics. But those are pretty darn impressive, and the gaming experience on them is ace: holding the unit in your hand like that is great, especially for driving games.

I've derailed this thread totally.

I was just saying it's nice not to worry about defragging etc :)

No worries I don't care if it's de-railed lol. It's all a matter of preference. You don't even really have to defrag on a pc really, like further up I think it was DK that said he's never done it. It just re-arranges all the files so that they can be accessed faster.

For the fully immersive 3D gaming experience, you need totally a PC, good monitor, graphics card etc. A handheld unit could never replace that.

Eventually they will equal if not rival desktops graphics I'm sure. I do know that with the right hardware you can't get better graphics on anything even a modern console as of right now.

this is one of things that the Mac is so good at. Macs write to HDs in a completely different manner to windows machines which negates the need for defragmenting. Like you say tho, it's not normally needed, unless you're writing and deleting lots of large files from your computer regularly.

Its possible, the graphics capabilities certainly might get up there. The biggest advantage of a desktop is the screen though... but judging by the progression of Apple's handhelds, that may no longer be an issue...

the iPhone 4 certainly took handheld graphics into a new dimension with the massive resolution of the small screen. Still, not going to beat a nice 27" widescreen for 3D games.
