After half an hour they came to a halt. The scent was going past the border— into the Chaos’ land.
“Why is he there?” Jasper whispered. “Doesn’t he know what will happen?”
“He won’t know,” said Peter grimly. “He has…Vampire Madness…so he won’t be able to control himself.”
“Should we go over there?” Jasper said.
“We’ll get in trouble,” murmured Peter.
“But Kyle’s already in trouble,” Jasper said quietly.
“Will he believe us that we are trying to rescue Kyle?” Peter said bitterly.
“We’ll have to reason with him,” Jasper said with a sigh.
“He’ll never believe us,” Peter said angrily, “not after what happened! He can’t just get over it and become our friends again!”
“If they capture us, will Owen come rescue them?” murmured Jasper.
“They will all be captured!” said Peter. “Maybe Jessica will persuade them…yes…of course…well if all of us come to their land….they must know we have a reason.” His eyes narrowed. “If he is smart enough.”
“Kyle forgave…Justin,” Jasper said, making Peter wince at the name.
“I don’t care if Kyle forgave him!” Peter snarled. “I will never ever forgive him! Never! I only will if he and his stupid Chaos group united with us! And those Suns! Now are we going across or not?”
Jasper stared at Peter, shocked at his outburst. He took a deep breath and said lightly, “Yes, yes, we are.”
