Kyle held his breath. There was another snarl. Who is making it? He thought.
His nose wrinkled and he became more alert. His sharp sense of smell detected a mix of cat and wolf.
Wolf….
Kyle and his brother, Peter was taking a walk. Out of nowhere they were surrounded by at least 5 wolves and Kyle was falling…falling into the darkness–
Kyle was jerked back to the present by yet another snarl, and he looked around for the wolf or cat.
His sharp sense of sight spotted some paw prints…
It looks like a cat made it….or is it a wolf? He thought, staring at the prints closely. It looks more like a cat…but how could that be? Nick is not in my house…it could only be—
Kyle shook off the thought. He wished his friends and his brother was with him; he had never felt so alone. He wanted to be with them, wherever they were.
Kyle took a deep breath and began following the prints. He wondered what creature was in his house.
There was a flash of movement; Kyle froze in his tracks as a large wolf emerged from the darkness and confronted him, preventing him from going on.
“Jacob,” Kyle snarled under his breath, anger boiling inside him. His mind flashed back momentarily to the attack. He clenched his fists angrily. Kyle crouched, preparing to attack. He would not be stopped by a mere wolf.
Jacob transformed to human form and calmly approached him. Kyle hissed in warning.
“Calm down, Kyle,” Jacob said quietly.
“Where is Peter?” snarled Kyle, baring his sharp fangs. “What have you done—”
“Kyle, he is safe,” Jacob said calmly. “It is you and I that are not safe.”
“What do you mean?” snapped Kyle, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
“You know that snarl you heard? Well, it wasn’t me.”
“Yes it was!” Kyle hissed. He rushed past Jacob. He ignored him and continued his path. The snarl was getting louder. He was getting closer…
“No, Kyle. It wasn’t me. It’s from Edward. He’s alive and in your house.”
