A little more from a front angle to get the head and eating paraphernalia in focus would have been nice to see.

I like the detail of the bug, but the pic seems a little... hmmm plane? Compared to your other shots, it's like... too out of focus?

Too much blur (shallow depth of field) behind it make it feel like it is stuck behind in a studio behind a green background, though the lighting is good, same goes with the detail, plus as guyzerr said, should of been at a different angle

You don't like bokeh? I do and it doesn't bother me one bit in that shot because it leads the eye to the intended subject. But...... what the hell do I know.

Tbh, no I don't like too much bokeh, but each to their own really, it does stand out a lot, though it can be deceiving at times too much bokeh:thumbup

Is that what it's called? :24: It just seems more pronounced than his normal pics... maybe if it were cropped more, it wouldn't bother me as much... just seems like so much unused space artistically speaking.

Yup.... cropping especially in macro is a good thing but I think this one is cropped enough.

im upset that the critique is against your use of the rule of thirds.

a centered picture, artistically speaking, is wrong, this looks good

The bokeh of whatever lens you're using... whilst not so much 'bad' lets just say it's virtually non existent as far as any meaningful bokeh is concerned because as TD said - it looks like it's a green background in a studio shot almost.

I don't mind his slightly blurry antenna, but what bothers me *most* about the pic is the blurry tip of the plant thing - not so much that it looks blurry, but that it looks like it's some random piece of the subject's body given the composition.

The subject itself is fine but of course may well have been moving about quite a bit so difficult to compose such a shot as well as you might like. You have legendary patience though, I know you could have done better ;)

i think the depth of field is too shallow.

but i like it. its just the antennae bothers me. if you were going to let it be blurry you should compose it differently is it's not blurry and zooming out the picture.
