You don't like bokeh? I do and it doesn't bother me one bit in that shot because it leads the eye to the intended subject. But...... what the hell do I know.Too much blur (shallow depth of field)
:homo:A little more from a front angle to get the head and eating paraphernalia in focus would have been nice to see.

Yup.... cropping especially in macro is a good thing but I think this one is cropped enough. Is that what it's called? :24: It just seems more pronounced than his normal pics... maybe if it were cropped more, it wouldn't bother me as much... just seems like so much unused space artistically speaking.

Nobody has mentioned that stupid rule.im upset that the critique is against your use of the rule of thirds.
a centered picture, artistically speaking, is wrong, this looks good

All the uppity up's in the world of photography say you should always follow the rule of thirds. I say screw 'em and if you want it centered then center the bloody thing.Who said it had to be centered?
The bokeh of whatever lens you're using... whilst not so much 'bad' lets just say it's virtually non existent as far as any meaningful bokeh is concerned because as TD said - it looks like it's a green background in a studio shot almost.
I don't mind his slightly blurry antenna, but what bothers me *most* about the pic is the blurry tip of the plant thing - not so much that it looks blurry, but that it looks like it's some random piece of the subject's body given the composition.
The subject itself is fine but of course may well have been moving about quite a bit so difficult to compose such a shot as well as you might like. You have legendary patience though, I know you could have done better![]()
