Did you read a different article? Because they clearly stated that the evidence they discarded was evidence not part of the order. Its all word play, my friend. You have to be 100% clear on a law, which we all know is never the case. This leads to interpretation, thus a legal battle. I'm sure they will get a spanking, but honestly, what can the judge do to the CIA?
Though Remes acknowledged the tapes might not be covered by Kennedy's order, he said, "It is still unlawful for the government to destroy evidence, and it had every reason to believe that these interrogation records would be relevant to pending litigation concerning our client."

it was illegal to enter iraq and bomb the bastards so do you think theyll give a shit about melting some tapes?

First of all, notice the :jk icon. Secondly, I doubt that considerably.

But still AEF, what are they gonna do to the CIA? Nada and you know it.

Debbie, I'm gonna ask you nicely, don't call people names on this forum. I quoted my statement to show that I put the :jk icon to signify I was kidding. I will also point out that I am a moderator on this board. Keep your insults to yourself or you will be infracted next time.

The CIA can be re-done. Its just going to take a ton of support, and I don't see that happening anytime soon....I'm just pissed that an organization can do whatever it wants and ignore both international and national law.

well it really only has to follow US laws. It will be revamped, just will take time and the right people.

International law such as the Geneva convention applies to the CIA in situations where international law applies. You know, like when they kidnap US citizens and send them to foreign countries to be tortured.

as i understand it the director of human rights watch US program has said "donald rumsfeld seems unaware of the requirements of international law,as a party to the geneva conventionsthe US is required to treat every detained combatant humanely including unlawful combatants .the US may not pick and choose them to decide who is entitled to decent treatment"

you should have seen the shit here when 4 british citizens were held in guantanamo on no charge and tortured.they came home to lots of bad feeling in their own communities and the legal action from them against the US and UK governments continues.their stories make everyone look bad

Terrorism makes good people do bad things. People demand security but are unwilling to deal with what it takes to get there. I challenge anyone to come up with a plan to monitor and gain knowledge of forthcoming terrorist acts against their country.

they do say that one mans terrorist is another mans fredom fighter.

i have lived with the fear of being bombed whilst out shopping and minding my own business all my life, its been part of our culture here for such a long time.twenty years ago i wouldnt have dreamt of doing a shopping trip to london at this time of year it was just too dangerous.
but we learned the hard way here,we had tour own guantanamo,in the h blocks and the torture and ill treatment there.this just increased the iras hate toward us .it didnt help
now with peace in ireland the bomb threats come from our young muslims, but its the treatment of their "brothers" by the US and UK that have strengthened their resolve and caused complete hatered toward innocent people.
so just when i thought it was safe to go into london we had the 7/7 bombings, and i still wont go down oxford street ,(especially at christmas time-oops were not allowed to say that here it must be called winter festival so we dont upset anyone)

The US just needs to pull out of the Middle East. Bam, problem solved. Let them kill each other.
