This is my first "intellectual" post on a forum in like forever! So here goes nothing.

You may be thinking to yourself. "Stupid christians, hippocrit!"
I totally agree with that statement. However. not ALL christians are like that. There a few that mess it up for the rest of us who are labeled under that. I am a christian. I do not go around doing drugs, having sex, or swearing. I just don't do that because we are commanded not to. However, it is just like.. say.. a cheerleeder. Alot of them are nice girls but they have the sterotype of being a slut, blonde, preppy, white trash.. etc.
All I am saying is that we believe in one god and we get to him through faith alone and you can't take just one "christian" and judge the rest of them off that single person!

~Thanks

I get on fine with all religions.

Except actors who become buddhists
what about bhuddists who become actors? ;)

as to the OP- you can lead a life similar to yours ( no drugs, swearing and booze etc etc) without being a Christian without feeling the need to be labelled as anything - just need to be aware of the consequence of action, if what you do has a negative impact, on yourself or others, then try not to do it

The OP has a point but so does Lord Stanley. A lot of non-Christians put Christians to shame through the way they lead their lives.

Most Christians aren't really Christians. If you're not living as close as possible to the way Jesus did, you're doing it wrong.

I don't judge until some one starts to judge me. And even then I don't judge them, I just counter them.

However, I think there is something to be said about people who do good to get in to heaven as opposed to atheists who still do good. Not saying Christians only do good to get into heaven, just saying some people do.

Yeah, everyone makes mistakes. But why is it only christians get sterotyped that way

I'd say that depends on the "Christian". Those who tout themselves to be moral yet get caught doing things they shouldn't certainly do not help the 'cause'.

There have been quite a few politicians over the years who tout they are in the 'Moral Majority' that have been caught w/their 'hands' in various cookie jars. That doesn't help the 'cause' either. I could move on the preachers & priests too.........

Another recent example here is there is a billboard up in town that says something like "Don't believe in God? You are not alone" (I haven't found a link yet). It was put up by a local Atheist chapter. There was a meeting last night full of 'Christians' w/their hackles up demanding it be taken down.

Why? Why does one billboard offend them so that they demand it be taken down? Since I'm sure the 'Religious Right' has much more money than the Atheists, why not erect a billboard in support of God instead of demanding this one be taken down?

I watched the circus on the news last night and all I could think of was STUPID. We have politicians selling us down the river and all these folks are concerned about is a billboard? A sold-out, career politicians dream they are. Be distracted by complete bs and pay no attention to what's really important in this nation.

Another example is a local Mayors race. The town elected another person who doesn't believe in Evolution and hangs Jesus from his sleeve to garner votes. The heck with the fact that he's sold out. He's a Christian and his opponent embraces Evolution....

Once again, we deserve the screwed up nation we get when we elect as we do. :willy_nilly:

Perhaps if the more moderate Christians actually stood up, all Christians wouldn't be so easily lumped together? But instead, it is those Christians that are the most sanctimonious that get the airtime. Those that feel it is most-important to make sure everyone believes as they do. It gets quite old and tiring.

Just my long-winded two cents.....

Behavior does not a Christian make.

I don't really care what religion a person has, as long as he/she is nice, and doesn't try to force it on me. I've met both assholes and really great people from many religions. I even have a friend who is a Bahai. I'm not 100% sure what that is, but he's a damn great guy.. I don't really tend to stereotype people.

I am not a bigot, I dislike all religious people equally.

:24:

i think that still makes you prejudice...

i used to think this way, but then i realized some people take it as part of their culture and tradition - like driving on the right side of the road.
