I don't intend this as a verbal attack, just an observation. I'm curious, are you a citizen of Singapore, born and raised there or just visiting? In any case, how does it feel living with Big Brother looking over your shoulder? (that is if you're able to discuss it). Relative freedom is messy. In contrast, I view Singapore as having onerous laws and strict law enforcement to force social order and minimize personal freedoms. Relative freedom gives you the ability to protest unjust situations and create change. I don't see much opportunity in Singapore to protest, just get arrested.

Born and raised here. Citizen here. I agree. How did we become a first world country among the top 10 countries in per capita income and world class in many aspects?

Well that is just a descriptive term. Are you referring to Singapore? Are we talking privileges or advantages? I believe Singapore has a class system to speak of. Foreign workers come in and do the menial labor. Are there poor people living in squalor in Singapore? Just curious.
Big Brother overlooking is no constraint. We are free to travel, vote, some new political parties were just registered, one of the safest cities in the world. Why did Las Vegas Sands invest $6 billion in a restricted country? 1000s of MNCs here. Nobody here will be deprived of education or health care just cuz they cant afford it. We hav some kind of social security for the underpriveleged but its not like in USA where you lose your job and u get SS benefits. Govt will screen and do means testing. If you own a home then dont expect govt to provide u with SS.
There are more foreign professionals here than menial labourers. 1 in 3 here are foreigners. We need them to expand the economy. There are no squatters here. Its a city state. 80% of population live in subsidiced govt public housing eatates.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, the economy of it sounds too good to be true. I don't know about personal liberties and I'm wondering when the other shoe will drop.If the economy in Singapore prevails long term say another 100 years and social needs continue to be met, the world will eventually take notice.
