It was a thrilling game. I can't believe the excitement. Disappointment would have been legendary and like that feeling at 25 seconds amplified. Makes me want to watch more.

I have one on video tape somewhere from many moons ago. It was Canada vs Russa (Soviet Union back then I think - that long ago). I'm thinking it's late 80's early 90's but I'll have to dig that one up sometime.

i can think of no other international sports event that is played at such speed, intensity and with such passion form both sets of fans where the scoring chances come so quick

even the soccer world cup ( which would rival this for fan passion) is not as fast paced or electric as the game we saw

I do like football of course and some games can be as exciting and frenetically paced (I'm more thinking league/European champions league/domestic stuff) - but tons of games can be boring as heck or just have a few spells of excitement. Not a lot for 90 minutes of football (or more if extra time is played in a cup).

However, ice hockey of course does have the advantage of a smaller and fast playing area where as you say the chances can come quickly. Now if only I had a chance of watching more matches... especially league matches but no chance I guess over this way.

Got to admit, the Olympic hockey seems to have really boosted the game over here. A friend of mine has suddenly got right into it and is going to a game this week. Personally, I found it more enjoyable than a lot of other sports but it's just too damn fast for me, I can never see where the puck is until the celebrations are over and the've restarted!:willy_nilly:

A good camera man will have the puck in the center of his shot most of the time.
not all the time, but most of the time, also once you get used to how the game flows, you'll automatically know where to look.
as in what plays they're trying to execute.
Just give a bit of time, you'll get used to where the puck is\should be\will be.

If you're looking for more NHL games try this link Siph.
ATDHE.Net - Watch Free Live Sports TV
It may or may not work, I'm hoping it will.
That's how I watch the Flames when they're on Pay Per View over here.

Thanks Shanks - all the games links and show stuff seemed to work good. Some testcards of course but to be expected if stuff has finished/not started.

Not sure if I'll be able to watch depending on times but good that it works for when I can - cheers!

Welcome to the Official Site of the Elite Ice Hockey League
I do believe that is the NHL equivalent of the NHL over the pond.
It's an NHL affiliate.

Cheers!:thumbup I've been aware of this league for a while and it's been having a healthy following for a few years now, a Geordie friend of mine has been a big supporter of Newcastle for as long as I've known him. I've never seen any tv coverage of it though, even NFL gets more tv coverage here. I was quite surprised that we didn't have a team in the Olympics, obviously we're not world beaters by any stretch of the imagination but after figure skating, it's the most easily available winter sport here.

Yeah lots of Canadians like to play in that league, most noticeably Theo Fleury played with the Belfast Giants for a short time.
