This pissed me right the fuck off.
They found oil in canada in some sand. so now they are strip mining a section of canada the size of great britian..

Isn't canada suppose to be like some kind of enviormentaly protective country?
Weren't they just resently bitching about us wanting to drill in Alaska?

Holy crap we were wanting to poke a few holes in the ground..
But no the freakin Canadads plows part of their country up.

Don't worry man, it's not nearly as bad as you seem to be making it sound.

Strip mining an area the size a Great Britton sounds incredible, but if you look into what the process is, it's actually pretty sweet.

The ground will be much cleaner when they're done pulling all the oil off of it.

You have got to be kidding. what is so sweet about destroying the habitats of millions of living things?

And yes you are right it is not as bad as I am making it sound.
It's worse.

Think about it Great Britain is about the same size as Oregon.

strip mining takes out what is the objective of the mining.

then puts back whatever it can besides the objective to remove.

it temporarily destroys habitats.

but then you can say that humans living destroys habitats. your house destroyed habitats. just for you to live. so id get over it :dunno

So all those hills and mountains that get plowed under will be put back just like they were? Oh and the minirals that will get depleted from the soil as they extract the oil will be some how miraculously restored?

My house and an area the size of Oregon is a very week comparison.

Anyway fuck it right who cares. It's just canada.
And besides man is just doing his little bit in the master plan of things.
so fuck canada fuck the rain forest fuck the oceans, we need oil and lots of it..

Actually the minerals will be restored. It will take thousands of years, but thats how the process worked. The minerals serve a purpose, for us not to use them would be unresourceful.

Of course it is critical and important that we take care of our little planet here. We're not saying what we're saying because it's in Canada, and I doubt you will find many people on board here who think polution is a good thing.

We're saying what we're saying, because the project you're talking about in particular will actually improve the land it's being accomplished on.

Do you know what kind of trees and animal life thrive on soil that has oil litterally seeping though it? None that I know of.

Cleaning and harvesting that natural oil slick will help Canada by way of bringing in money from the rest of the world. It will help Canada by creating jobs both before, and after the project. It will help Canada because it will give you a new piece of land the size of Great Britton that is habbitable and useful.

The world produces oil, so oil itself is not an evil thing. But we have to keep the place clean too. Are you suggesting that we simply mark off territory the Earth is pooring oil out of, and make sure it's never used for anything?

You said earlier "F**K Canada" right? What you don't understand is, that everything you touch and use, every time you turn on a light bulb, or type on your keybord, you're dealing with things that have been made from natural products. If you think it's evile to use a natural product, than mankind should never have shaped homes out of mud piles. We never would have crossed to oceans. We never would have domesticated animals, or made tools to make our lives better. If you want Canada to stop using her natural resources, that's what would really screw her. Digging a big hole isn't going to.

People are getting better every day at being more efficient. By the time our kids are grown, I predict the world will be a much cleaner place.

Before man arrived, everything was vegetation.

That car you drive, Tony... is destroying the world.

The electricity you used to turn your computer on to bitch about Canada, is destroying the world.

You breathing, living, working, driving, eating is destroying the world.

What? No it's not the end of the subject. It just goes to prove how very little about this subject you understand.

My meager existence does not destroy thousands of acres of forest and kill off thousands of animals a day.

Tell ya what go do some research then come back and tell me what you think. And could you please attempt to stay on subject.

The subject is Oil sand. It's Pros and Con...I hold the Cons. Meaning I'm against. Did I make that simple enough for you to understand?
