If I think a law is wrong I dont blindly follow it like a sheep, I protest and flaunt it regardless of whether its legal or not.
What does that have to do with me not standing up for my beliefs?

Disagree with the law or not, if you get busted for it you're required to serve the sentence.

And you think that's right even if you believe the law is wrong? I don't!

Right or wrong, it's your job as a citizen to obey the law. There's ways to go about changing it other than flaunting it.

Agree to disagree.

And for the record, I don't appreciate being called a sheep or being told I'm not a man. No need for the personal attacks.

Wasn't meant as a personal attack dude, sorry if you took it that way.:)

And I agree to disagree with you on that. I'm prepared to go to prison for my beliefs which are contrary to law, I have done and am prepared to give the system as much stick as possible for it. I've been on hunger and water strikes in prison over it and every little bit helps. It has always achieved something, however small.

Oh, is that all....

I'm laughing at your and AEF's consistent readiness to jump to the defense of criminals.

You guys have no idea what these people did to get themselves locked up, but you're ready to set them free because the corrupt system shouldn't bother with them.

It's just funny to me. :)
no, I don't like to do that. I simply think that minor crimes should be reviewed and if its seen that the sentence is unnecessary, early leave should be an option.

Unjust laws should be broken at every second's chance.
There's a difference between unjust, which can be backed up and proven through the legal system and otherwise, and stupid, which is a personal opinion.

See what I'm saying? There's no right to break a law simply because it's "stupid".

Well, if a law is WITHIN REASON "stupid", then it is totally nonsensical. To me, that makes it unjust. That is, if the majority see it as that.

Guess it was right some woman being imprisoned and lashed in the middle east for being raped, then, seeing it was backed up and proven by the law there!

Why do people assume that just because it is a law, means its right or should be followed? That kind of obedience is dangerous.

Maybe you could give us a little civics lesson on how laws are written in the country, and how easy they are to challenge if you feel they are unjust.

What will happen to the job market when 20,000 people surge into it? They will be required to find/obtain jobs shorlty after release .. just because they are out doesn't mean they are "free" they will still be on Parole for the remainder of their terms.

Even if the law regarding their crime is stupid, the're no danger to the public and keeping them in prison is costing you wasted money in taxes?

Um perhaps themnot getting punished for their crimes and the people who they offended to get put there not feeling completely compensated .. in their lack of punishment.

How would you feel if a person robbed your house (pretend you own it), took all your belongings, any money you had in the house, your fridge full of beer, stole your checks and cleaned your bank account, trashed your digs and left you with a huge repair bill, took your wifes personal things ... then didn't have to serve their full term?

Would you feel a tad angry about that, or just shrug it off?

Because if we didn't .. there ar epeople out there that thing EVERY law is stupid, wrong, and shouldn't be followed. This is why we, as a people united, vote and pick people to make laws for us.

There have to be laws, no matter how stupid YOU think it might be, to keep the idiots in check so the rest of us can cohabitate in relative peace.

Most of the laws that will land you in jail .. aren't going to hurt you for you to not do them in the first place. Only reason you'd WANT to do them ... is simply because someone told you not to. And that is very childish.
