Bowler's thread

Finished the season in 12th place for the second half. I was a little disappointed my average for the season dropped about 5 pins per game. 35 weeks and 105 games later I don't feel that bad based on my scorecard. Of those 105 games 70 were at least 175 and as high as 278. 24 out of 35 weeks my total for three games was at least 550. I finished with a 189 average for the season.

The other week I took the boys up to visit dad for the first time this year.

While up there, decided to start picking up old pics to start storing digitally (my father refuses to move in with us LOL). Came across this old article.

The pic was taken in the early 60's. Funny thing is, you can't see it, but my dad has a bowling ball in his hand in the picture. That ball he picked up in Paris in or around 1956. I used that SAME ball bowling in a high school league in the early 80's and still use that same ball today whenever I get out (which hasn't been for years now). When I was working around home after college we use to bowl on the same team and I still used that same ball from Paris LOL.

Dad pushing 82 now, still bowls in a league, but his average is now in the mid 160's

The local lanes does a good job of bringing out the older bowlers as well as catering to the teenage crowd. For those bowlers over 50 there is a Tuesday morning no-tap tournament, as well as $1/game bowling all day on Tuesday and a Thursday seniors league. Many of the regulars are over 70. One guy who still comes out is in his 90's and is extremely consistent. He may not strike but he likely picks up his spare. They do the extreme bowling a few nights a week late for the teenagers and has leagues every night of the week except Friday & Saturday. Saturday morning is youth bowling. I believe they make a ton of money.
