This was my wake up call this morning......

I heard the beagle calls off in the distance.... they gradually got closer..... then they were in my yard!

This is the two little guys in the front yard area on the hunt..... They were so intent on their adventure that they wouldn't even look when I called to them....

I am standing on the deck when I took this picture. They still didn't acknowledge me.....

These guys were fast! They ran up the steps onto the deck right at me! One almost ran over my foot! That's this picture.. I was looking down at him as he ran through and down the other steps of the deck and continued his hunt. The other Beagle jumped off the deck midway and met up with his buddy.

The whole time they were making their Beagle hunt sounds.... It was absolutely exciting to watch them. They were dancing in unison and oblivious to me or anything else around them.

Kewl!!!!! SNOOPY & his Peeps! Did you see Woodstock too?? ;)
No..... :(

But if I do... I've got my camera handy for now! :D

Awww... beagles are cute but I hate their bark.
Exactly! That's what got my attention.

They are back right now.... I'm getting some more pictures.... I'll upload some more shortly! These guys are so cute.

However... My own dog is going absolutely bonkers! I had to bring her in.

OHhhhhhhhhh....they are so cute!! :) For years, when I was little, I thought beagles were supposed to look like Snoopy, white/black. I've never seen one like that though.

Some do look like Snoopy, but they're rarer. Mine, rest his little soul, slept like Snoopy, just not on top of a doghouse:

You've never heard anything quite like a beagle on the scent of something. That howl....

And they will run. Lord will they run. You should've, in the lowest voice you could muster, sang, "NO DOGS ALLOWED", then mournfully sang the Snoopy Come Home song.... :)

Okay..... The Beagles have returned! Here are a couple more pictures...

The Beagles had a blast on some of the trails on my property.... Most likely following the scents of dozens of Deer, Rabbits, etc.

These two are so adorable! I bet they are related.

I sure hope they get home safely......

These two have been running the area all day now. No collars. :(

I had one of them on the front deck for several minutes. Friendly little thing. Then off he was again on another adventure.

Every now and then I can hear them howling way off in the distance. I sure hope the owners eventually collect them.

We have a state game area about a mile from here. Might be someone from in there.

A neighbor said it isn't uncommon for owners to dump the dogs around here because either they aren't good hunters..... aren't good to train..... or they no longer want them period. That's just mean and irresponsible.

I once worked with an old man who was deaf as a post. He always talked like we were at a rock concert or something. :D Then one day he invited me to his house. He had a dozen beagles and 5 or 6 other hunting dogs. The guy was a hunting fanatic.

I always wondered which came first, the dogs or the deafness. :D :D

If the dogs are around tomorrow, offer them a meal.

They're hunting dogs. They LOVE to hunt. What should the owners do, shut them up in an apartment and treat them like lap dogs? Now that would be irresponsible. To deny an animal's nature is cruel.

I understand that...but these dogs are obviously roaming without any supervision.

What if they "hunt" a family pet? Or kill native wildlife?

But thats OK is it?

Feral dogs are a big problem, and if they are roaming and/or their owners have dumped them...they will look for something to eat.

Sorry, I homed in on the wrong point. I agree the dogs should be collared & tagged. where I come from, a hunting dog without a collar usually means someone abandoned the dog.
