Banning Swearing in Bars

Bars are slowly turning into... well... no longer bars, they already banned smoking inside them and alot of places have gone quiet and loosing business around here because the rules and regulations in alot of bars are getting beyond a Joke, alot of people would prefer to stay at home and not have to worry about the niggly things that used to be a part of having a good time.

I think all this stupid crap should be left up to the owners. If an owner thinks swearing is driving away business, he can ban it. If another owner thinks he can bring in more business by allowing it, he can allow it. Smoking should be the same. Leave it up to the owners. Privately owned businesses should be privately run.

thats what they do in spain

We don't ban swearing in our pub, but it's all down to respect for others in there. On a match day when the pub is full of footy-fans, no-one batts an eyelid at a bit of profanity, it's acceptable in that environment. However on a quiet evening, if for instance, a group of lads come in being extremely loud and swearing for the sake of it they'll be asked to tone it down. If they refuse (as happened last night) they'll be asked to leave!!

They should not ban anything from bars. Bars are places of vice!
Even the whole smoking ban is loony. I would like for a scientist to prove at least one cancer case to me from somebody who got it via second hand smoke in a bar!

Roy Castle. Played in clubs most of his career, never smoked. Died of smoking related lung cancer from second-hand smoke. Roy Castle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When the smoking ban came into effect here, ever hardened smokers admitted that the pub was nicer without the smoke.

Got to admit, smoking outside dosen't make me the social outcast I thought it would. Seeing most of the pub smoke and have to go outside, it's the non smokers left inside sitting on their own who look like the social rejects!:D

i ahve to agree with that ,in jims pub i never got a seat till the ban ..now everyone goes outside anyway as most pub goers are smokers .
a lot of people smoke just with a pint anyway.

lovely bloody beers though:D

Titanic beers are great, they always have a couple on at least at my local beer festival.
Smoking outside is a great conversation starter, usually goes something like this -

Walk out side and light up, glance at other smokers there, roll eyes and say "bloody smoking ban!"
...and off the conversation goes!:D
