Baby Sandhill Crane (2 large pics)

hehehehehehehehehe..... I'm still relieved. I'll be working most of today but perhaps I'll get a glimpse of them later this afternoon? When PBBB saw em they were pretty close to the house so clearer shots may be coming :)

It was funny. They were already heading down to the water line when I came out with the food yesterday. Daddy saw me spreading it out and came fly/running up. But Mama called him back. No junk food right now! Mama rules that roost.

Aw! what a cutie d-015.gif

I wonder how long it takes b4 it reaches adult size

Birds grow very fast, especially wild ones.. There are too many predators, so they need to get big in a hurry.. sometimes, you can see them grow up right in front of your eyes.. :p

Also, the warm season is short in many areas ~not where Moonie lives.. lucky her :D~... so they have to learn to fly before it gets cold..

I also have a lot of different animals here -not as much as you do, though-.. and wouldn't go back to the city for anything..

Since you didn't say anything about my previous comment... I guess exchanging two or three of those beauties for some of my state birds is out of the question... :ninja

NJ state bird = *mosquito* :D

I'll trade you for whatever you want.. raccoons, deer, vultures, skunks, snakes, slugs... mosquitoes.. :p :D

We already have all those here. :D Tho, I have yet to see a deer or skunk around our lake. But they do reside in our county. Florida Panthers too. But not on the lake. We have had Bobcats & hear the coyotes that hang on the other side of the lake.

Sorry, no trade ;) My sympathies on the skeeters tho. Seems everyone has plenty of those.:willy_nilly:
