Seeing Avatar on a computer would be a big let down. That movie needs to be seen in the theater in 3D to be fully appreciated. I wish I could have seen it in IMAX.

I'm told the 3D IMAX was just too much to take in. I saw it in the regular cinema 3D & it was great.

At the Academy Awards, Avatar did as I suspected it would gathering about 4 Oscars, one for Cinematography and one for Visual Effects, which it really did deserve imo. Even though I liked this movie a lot, I have not yet seen the Hurt Locker and have it on my list to see before I can comparatively judge. I realize that one of the important aspects of "best picture" is a strong original story where Avatar came up on the short side.
