Studies show that those who aren't religious are less likely to be happy.

But as interesting as that sounds, some would argue that's the way it is because religious folks believe whatever they want to believe. And I don't disagree, to be honest.

You need to qualify that to studies in the USA. It is not the case for European countries. In the USA atheists tend to be socially isolated and that impacts their happiness negatively. I think this is because churches are the social center. And most churches don't welcome atheists in this country.

As I've been told, Atheists are people who follow life by what they see and can prove. No faith in religion and to follow by their earthly senses.

Do Atheists have hope? If life is at a shitty circumstance, there is no one or anything to blame but life itself (or oneself if that's how it's perceived).

Isn't hope a product of religion and something that cannot be touched?

Interesting topic. Buncha folks here smarter n me that's fer sure. I'm a pure blooded atheist. Or at least I am if you define an atheist as someone who doesn't believe in god.

Hope springs eternal - I certainly have hope. But I am also a pragmatic realist with an optimistic twist. Optimistic that things will work out. Challenges can be met, overcome, and conquered. Because they can. I have that hope, that faith, that things often appear darker than they are. But, I have the understanding that sometimes bad things happen.

God, no god, it's individual choice. My kids all believe in god. I don't try to discourage that. Each of us chooses our path.

Excellent that you donnot try to persuade away from your kids choices. I do the same for my wife and I'll do the same for my son, also.
