Ohh, jeez. It depends. Let me think of a few recent ones... do I want to keep working for my current company? Are ALL of the administration white trash?? How soon can I become a CNA? How much will it cost me? Am I ready to go back to college? Will my SO ever realize that I'm only on OTz to BS, not to hook up?? That's a few anyway. I can go on.

So you wanna be a CNA? What do u like in being one?

Have you heard of Psychological techs? They earn much higher salary and easier job than CNAs. IJS

I am a care provider type of person. I didn't realize this until recently. Everything I've endured through life and the personality I was born with point to the direction of care provider. I LOVE the job. It's the most important work I've done in my life and I've worked since before I was a teenager (now, I'm in my 30s). Would I rule out Psychological tech? No. I nearly have enough college credit hours to minor in Psych anyway!

Have you considered going to school to be an LVN? It's more school than a CNA, and less than an RN. You're also less likely to have to wipe asses and empty bed pans as an LVN.

Do you mean an LPN? Licensed Practitioning Nurse? Yes, I've considered it. My sister is in school for that very same position.

alright, I'm back. Temporary internet snafu. For PJ: Past: I'd have to say Michael Jacskon, Present: Aerosmith....but, that's just 2 off the top of my head. I could never narrow it down to just one or 2!

You don't really need a lot of Psychology units for this. It only takes you from 8 months to a year depending on the school to graduate. Those types of jobs are mostly hired by State/County Facilities/detention places. You're still a caregiver but no CNA type of duties. Besides the starting salary as in like in California facilities start at $5400/month. CNAs mostly start a bit higher than minimum from what I've seen around. Just a suggestion of course :)

Juz FYI guys: LPN and LVN are the same. Just called differently by different people and institutions :)
( LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse )
Thanks. I verified through Google before you answered because I was curious as to what the heck an LVN was. It's still a possibility for me to pursue. My stepmom was an RN and, like I said earlier, my sister is going to school to become an LPN/LVN. I'm kicking the idea around. At least, I was until PurpleDove kindly opened my eyes to something I've never looked into, so now my direction is uncertain, but hey, this PurpleDove is something else! I've got newfound worlds of respect for her for enlightening me! :thumbup

My buddy was a CNA before he became an LVN, he went from making $10.50 an hour as a CNA to about $21 an hour as an LVN.

Yup, i can believe that- given it's in SF plus maybe with Kaiser eh?

Well, Psych Techs earn much more given the same amount of schooling or lesser than an LVN- they earn- basic pay @ $33.75/hour.
