Are you riding Jesus or are you elevating him?

Substitutionary atonement is thought of by many to be an immoral practice yet Christians embrace such a notion as moral and good.

Christians see God sending Jesus to be murdered as a good thing as it makes it possible for God to forgive man’s sins.
They tend to forget that the moral thing to do was to just forgive outright the same way he had done before sending Jesus.

This thinking says then that it is ok to use a scapegoat for our sins and not take responsibility for our own sins. That is why many think that we are saved by faith alone and not by deeds. Obviously a poor moral position.

Who ultimately is responsible for your sins?
Should Jesus, as your hero, be carrying you and your responsibilities, or should you be carrying your hero?

Matthew 10:38
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Did Jesus do the immoral thing and try to offer himself as a scapegoat?

I'm not a christian but am more christian-like than a lot of christians I know, if that makes sense. And most christians I've met seem to justify a questionable decision with ''god forgives me for whatever, so it's cool''.

Maybe it's just here, but I truly think christianity leads to more 'sins' than not. People play it like a card to do whatever they want. I say we all man up and take responsibility, it might be good for humanity.

It is not hard for most to be better than Christians. They are trained to hate the others not of their tribe.

What a laugh :24: You obviously can't differentiate between love and hate, I wish that you a 60 year old guy would simply grow up. Since you can't tell the difference between a real Christian and atheists who pretend to be Christian, I wonder why you ever make such threads, since you talk about others hating other people, what have you to offer? Nothing I suppose:thumbup

I agree. Whoever did the crime should do the time. Substitutionary atonement may have made sense to the ancient Hebrews but we're civilized now.

Since you can't tell the difference between a real Christian and atheists who pretend to be Christian,

Why would an atheist pretend to be a Christian?

Give Christian a bad name, isn't G.I.A.'s mission in life?

GIA doesn't claim to be a Christian. In fact, he would probably consider it an insult if you called him one.

I think you're right about some atheists pretending to be Christians but for a different reason. Any other guesses?

Where did I say he was? He disparages Christianity because he doesn't get what he wants out of God, not a thing Christians do.

Previous threads shows his jealousy with God that he covets and 'fucks our women', firstly that wasn't coveting, second, since God created us, he can damn well do as he wishes with us. Its not hatred, it is facts

I can think of a few examples of atheists pretending to be Christians, but I am not suppose to judge people, rather than carrying on being a Christian

I think it's unwise not to judge people. But since you don't want to judge for yourself, I will tell you. Some atheists pretend to be Christians for money and power. This is why I urge Christians not to believe something just because a religious authority told them it's true. And btw, the people who wrote the Bible were religious authorities.

Moses wasn't a religious authority, neither Abraham. Christ wasn't born with the intention of ruling us with an iron fist. If the bible was written by religious authorities, I don't think they would of put the criticism he held of them in the bible

LOL.

You are not supposed to judge, you say, right after a huge judgment. I was right in my judgment which I am proud to make. You are an idiot. Keep reading though. You may still have the ability to learn.

I note though that you are bright enough to know you should not speak to the issues of morality that the O P opens up.

You know that your moral position fails.

You never have the ability to learn anything but hate and negativity to something you don't understand

Who are you to tell anyone that no one can speak to you? Are you a fascist that no one can question you?

As has been mentioned in another thread recently the notion of God requiring a sacrifice to grant forgiveness is rather stupid considering Jesus is supposed to end up partying in heaven in the true spiritual existence. In human terms death is a sacrifice. In spiritual terms not really.

Sorry, but that is our prerogative, not yours or anyone else to forgive, ok? Get it into your head now, and stop these stupid threads, they don't mean anything, all it is one 60 year old opinion, who goes around 20 different forums, spewing the same rubbish all the time.

In all your 60 years, have you not had one minuscule of a brain cell to even think? I don't think you have...you take everything that is in the Bible that is in your opinion 'a bad thing' you don't even mention any good that is in the Bible, because you know that the religion isn't about hate
