Are humans meant to be monogamous?

I believe that the animal (or sin for christians) nature does want to spread its seed, but our humanity makes us not only capable of monogamy, but happily monogamous.

Agree'd. It also aids in growing our character as it encourages us to push deeper into relationship with the one we love. It encourages us to nourish our relationship, to engage in commitment, to communicate, and to sacrifice self at times.

Every animal species has a social structure that they base their daily lives on .. and I don't see why humans would need to "spread around" .. we don't live in packs or herds we live in families .. father mother, brother, son, daughter ..

It's been like that forever .. and even in the deepest untouched parts of Africa (like I previously stated) where "man" has not interveened and put "morals" into play .. the societies that have been foiund .. live almost the EXACT same way. They choose a wife/husband and start a family .. the man doesn't just run aroiund poking his dick in everything that will let him, and the women don't encourage it.

I don't see how one can say "humans" are meant to not be monogamous, when it's clear that even when not taught the "morals" that we civilized people operate under .. that they still bascically do (in a round about manner).

I watched this one about a tribe in New Guinea in a really remote area and they were nicking each others wives and killing each other over it.

Males, whatever species, have an instinctual need to mate. It depends on the species, whether they mate with what they consider a true partner. Animals act on instinct, with the exception of some that have shown proof of possessing some feelings of compassion. For example, I know that penguins show sadness and love and what not. Us humans are more logical when it comes to "mating", since we posses a higher, more complex intelligence and compassion. Humans seek touch and meaningful experiences with another. This is natural. This was not invented. We didn't invent love or pleasure. But monogamy is an idealism, not a natural feeling or instinct.

Humans are very much pack animals. Think of when you go out with a bunch of freinds, or when you go to a sport event. Communities are like massive flocks/packs and so on. We're just a more advanced one, humans like to stick together for various reasons.

right......look at mans closest relatives in the animal kingdom.....the apes......most live a small groups and have one prime male that does all of the mating with females......hes the strongest so he calls the shots.......wheras it would be hoped that we as a species have evolved since we were like that i dont think we have......only we mate for pleasure and not to reproduce

It's never OK, but sometimes there's a cause and effect to it.
